Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

Re: UO!!

  • Here's another that I kvetch about often. I am so sick of babysitting random kids at the park because their parents or nannies won't look up from their iPhone to pay attention to them. I feel sorry for them but I don't feel obligated to push them on the swings or help them down from structures.

I also don't like when they ask my kid to "share" his ball and won't give it back to him. I shouldn't have to be the one explaining the finer points of sharing. That's their parents' jobs.

  • I hate drivers who act like they've never seen a pedestrian. Yes, your job is to stop until I have my kid across.

  • I have nothing good to add. But I don't think any of the above are UO's. Except for the stupid people who are committing these stupid acts.

  • I have a play date this weekend and we're gonna let the kids run around the kiddie area at the mall, supervised of course. I've not taken B to play in a public area like that before and I'm nervous she's gonna get trampled or contract a disease. I know y'all have taken LOs out into the "real world" by now but I've been holding out. She's only been walking one month. But I guess it's time.

I get really annoyed with the Salvation Army ringers. I know this is the holiday season but I always feel so bombarded with opportunities to give and then I feel guilty not giving to every single one.  DH and I pick a few organizations we are going to donate to and then we will add an extra few dollars here and there but we cannot give to everything. I end up feeling like a Gringe when someone asks me to donate and I cannot.

  • This may be flameful but I'm pretty sure it is an UO.
I could never co-sleep. I just don't get it. I understand you are closer to your LO for night feedings, wakings, etc but it is not for me. I would think that your LO would get used to having you there and then you would  have to wean to a crib and to their own room and wouldn't that disrupt their sleep even more? I am not saying it is wrong to do by any means. Kudos to those who do it because I couldn't. Our LO slept in his own room in a crib from day 1. For us it was just easier to do and also he got used to his crib and we didn't have to introduce anything new so his sleep routine was never altered. Yes, I was worried all the time about SIDS and probably checked on him a billion times a night but we got through it.
To be clear, I am not against co-sleeping, it just isn't for me!

  • I have zero interest in watching The Sound of Music live tonight. With the exception of Grease, and in particular Grease 2, I hate musicals.

  • I am totally watching sound of music live tonight!! Love musicals. I also want to see the mess up live.
Me too!  I think it's hilarious that Vampire Bill (True Blood) is Captain Von Trapp.  I'll be waiting for him to bite Carrie Underwood in the middle of a song.

    :

I used to have the same opinion and DS was in his crib from day 1 too. Then my little boobie monster came along...and I was so tired I would often wake up an hour later with a sleeping baby and my shirt half off.  We all sleep much better if she is in her own crib now, but that was after sleep training and mommy cuddle detox.  Both are good now, just were very different sleepers.

I was opposed. Then that fucking four month wakeful hit and I did what I could. Please excuse my language but fuck you four month wakeful. Fuck. You. Howell is also a nursing addict. Now he sleeps on his own just fine and any stress I had about getting him into his crib just seems silly in hindsight.

Perfect.  You can go to my grad school class and make an oral presentation for me, and I will stay on my couch watching a musical.

My presentation is in a Google Doc, so I can easily send you the link.  ;)
  • Clearly, my love of gingerbread is an unpopular opinion.

I am neutral on gingerbread lattes, although we don't have a Starbucks (that is not in a grocery store) on this side of town, so I get mine from a local place.

It's the gingerbread cookies that rock my socks.  I have a really great gluten free gingerbread cookie recipe and they are delicious every year!  They come out much better than GF sugar cookies.
  • Pedestrians need to be respectful of traffic rules, as well. "Walk" and "Don't Walk" are completely ignored in my area..and don't get me started on jay-walking. I'll cutabitch.

I agree. I get so angry with idiots who jay walk with a stroller. I was talking about stop signs though. If you slow down and your wheels keep moving, you didn't stop.

  • I cycle and walk everywhere. I get why we get a bad wrap but some of us follow the rules. O:-)

  • I don't really think it's valid to complain about cyclists and traffic laws unless the person in question never breaks any rules in their car. That means coming to a complete stop at stop signs, always driving under the speed limit, never speeding through a light that was more red than yellow and not using one's phone in the car.

So, by that logic no one can complain about anything unless they're doing the right thing all the time.
  • I hate musicals. The singing in them is usually weird and way too dramatic.

I also don't like Rachael Ray and since Kelly Clarkson looks just like her, I don't like her either. I see Kelly and I am reminded of Rachael and filed with an irrational anger.

  • The only television I love to watch is trashy reality shows. Kardashians, Real World, etc. When I am watching tv I just want something that requires no thinking. I zone out of anything with a real plot.

Her husband gives me the creeps too. And she wears shirts that are way too tight and low cut with for her A cups.

No but I don't think it's fair to say the reason one doesn't like contending with cyclists is because they break traffic rules. It's a bit the pot calling the kettle black to me.

  • How about this as a compromise..."if you're not abiding by the rules of traffic, you have no right to complain when others do the same".
  • How about this as a compromise..."if you're not abiding by the rules of traffic, you have no right to complain when others do the same".

That was sort of my point. I just think it's easy to get annoyed at cyclists because there are more cars than bikes on the road. Their mistakes stick out because they're the odd people out.
