3rd Trimester

change in movement ?

ugh, i thought my days of worrying about movement were over.  i just need a bit of reassurance, because i am a big time worrier!  who has experienced a change in the way their baby movement feels at 35+ weeks?  i haven't been feeling really strong kicks the past couple days....more rolling movements....they seem lazier.  they are less obvious movements and the change has me a little nervous.  i think this is normal....?

Re: change in movement ?

  • I went through that too - I think it's just because they are running out of room, so rolling is pretty much the most they can do. That and I notice when my baby seems to be going through a growth spurt he is much quieter.

  • My doctor said that would happen near 36 weeks since they have less room to move around. If you are worried, it wouldn't hurt to call!
  • I'm going through this right now.  I've also learned that my baby likes to be super active for like 4 days and then very lazy for 2 and then it starts over again.
  • She never kicked me a whole lot.  I get mostly rolls too, but she rolls around so much that I don't worry about her.  She likes to stick her butt out all day long......it's pretty funny....but I wouldn't worry about that.  Even though they are lazy movements - they still count!
  • thanks for the reassurance ladies....i do feel better now!  i think he is just being squeezed.
  • I just called the doctor yesterday for decreased movement and went in for NST. While there the baby seemed fine but the doctor did mention this happening anytime in 3rd tri as the baby runs out of room. He said to expect more rolling movements and less kicks and more elbow and knee jabs. So my guess is your baby is not lazy but just has nowhere to move around.
  • my doc told me that movement can change by baby and by pregnancy.  she said ANY kind of movement counts when doing kick counts.
  • Change in the type of movement is ok. A noticeable decrease in movement and I would call the doc. They can throw you on the NST machine pretty easily and make sure things are looking good.
