Cloth Diapering

Dunk and swish

Who does it? I attempted this on three diapers the other day and it was a huge fail! Do you do it right after changing or before putting into the washer? I'm sure I could get a routine down. After failing, though, I'm thinking of skipping the rinsing at the toilet altogether and sticking poopy diapers into a homemade bucket hand washer and plunging them. There's no way MH will spray or dunk. Lol

  • It's probably bad, but if it is only slightly thicker than ebf, I don't clean it out. Peanut butter poo is easier to dunk off. Liners are working okay foe us. Chad even flushed one. After throwing a fit. ;)

  • My SO doesn't spray either. He leaves the poopy dipes for me to spray. It's NBD. Dunk and swish is a PITA, I love my sprayer.

  • I try to do it right after changing, but sometimes that isn't possible. Seriously though, you just figure out how to swish the right way after a week or two. I had a nervous breakdown every time I had to swish a diaper when we moved and my sprayer was no more... But now I can clean poop off them easily with no splashing all over the place, and I can do it much more quickly. It's an art :P

This. DH never sprays, he just leaves the diapers for me to spray at the end of the day. It actually works out because I find the poop comes off easier after the insert sucks the moisture out of it. I never dunk and swish; if I'm away from my sprayer I scrape, but I would bring my sprayer with me if I could.

  • I use a Diaper Duck for the really stubborn poos. My first one broke and they totally replaced it (with two!) in warranty. One of the broken pieces from the first one is the perfect shape and size for scraping.
  • I'm actually having fun spraying poopy diapers with the Spray Pal. I'm still trying to figure out the best process, though. I couldn't imagine spraying diapers without it. There are a few changes I would make to it to make things easier like a ledge to hold it above the toilet bowl. Also, I got the bag to store it in, but since it's lined with PUL that layer comes out with the Spray Pal if it's still wet.

  • I dunk and swish and place in wet bag until wash day. Thankfully its rare that I have to dunk and swish anymore. Most of the time her poop is plopable now.

  • I dunk and swish DD's diaper right after changing. Most of the time everything comes off pretty easily but sometimes it takes a little extra swishing. We're going to get a sprayer within the next few months though.

I am waiting for my spray pal to be delivered! I didnt know there was a bag to store it in though...but I suppose leaving it out on the counter won't be appreciated by anyone...
They have a bundle with a Jaq Jaq Bird wet bag.  The bag is nice, but if I were you I would find a nice unlined bag to store it in!
