Fantasy Football: Week 14

Final week of the Regular Fantasy Season and some big shit is about to go down.

I've surged to 6-7 and am in 5th place, and on top of that, I'm actually in good shape on points scored, which is the tiebreak. I've got The Dog Pound this week, a 3-10 team I've outscored the past five weeks.

At 9-4 Tropical Storm Sandy and Das Wannabe are locked in to playoff spots. Meanwhile, 7-6 Somewhere over Dwayne Bowe and Team Blue Kool Aid are tied for 3rd and 4th at 7-6 each and facing each other.

The winner of that match is in, and the loser is probably out. If I win, I'm *probably* gonna snag the 4th seed.

Fantasy football is dead to me this year.  I was cruising in my other league then suddenly everyone I faced had the 2 guys who just went nuts each week and I plummeted out of contention.  Other people that were at the bottom gave up on the year and my competition for playoff spots played against teams with half filled rosters.  I should have known that the football gods would not allow me success.

I call Fantasy Football "Fantasy Coinflipping" for a reason, and I think anyone who puts real money down on it (not like $20 with your buddies or something) is a damn fool.

Fantasy football is nothing you can predict by far.  You lose your star player on the 3rd snap of the game and it completely flushes your team down the toilet and there is absolutely no way to predict it.  Then you get the guys who come out of no where like Josh Gordon these past 2 weeks to go for an NFL record performance... you just can't predict it.

This was the first time I played Fantasy Football and I don't think I like it.  The bye weeks were the absolute worst.

Yeah, bye weeks can be difficult, you have to take it into account when you draft your team.

It's better than it once was. When there were an odd number of NFL teams bye weeks had to be scattered so there was always at least one team on bye during the fantasy playoffs, which REALLY threw a monkey wrench into draft strategies.

Bye weeks also do reward you for drafting depth. I feel like they do add to the strategy in a way that can be controlled (unlike injuries, which can be freak accidents that ruin your season). And in an 8 man league like this, the waiver wire was pretty flush most of the season, except maybe at RB.

More than anything else, my lack of a reliable and consistent QB cost me a lot of games.  I auto drafted because LO was born on the same night and I ended up with Eli Manning and RG3, and obviously both of them have had a shit season.

I drafted Matt Ryan to be my stud. Oops. But I snagged Phillip Rivers off the waiver wire as a homer pick up that has worked out well!

Eli is obviously a bust, but RG3 has been inconsistent. His average is actually pretty solid. Peyton has been in a class by himself, but after that there are a few 20 point per game QBs, while RG3 sits at 17.

Last week I went against my Lions and picked up Matt Flynn because Lions secondary blows.  Lions proceed to shut him down…seriously he had 0 points.  That's what I get.  I'm going with Nick Foles the rest of the way.

Foles has been amazing, both IRL and Fantasy Football!

It just sucks because he's playing the Lions and I don't want him to do anything.  #Fantasyfootballproblems

Ah, well, here's where you root for the Lions to get ahead early so the Eagles have no choice but to throw the ball every play. A 56-35 Lions win still means a lot of fantasy points for you!

Ah, well, here's where you root for the Lions to get ahead early so the Eagles have no choice but to throw the ball every play. A 56-35 Lions win still means a lot of fantasy points for you!
