Witch hazel for padsicles

So I read to make sure you get the kind of witch hazel that does not contain any alcohol, but the only kind I'm finding contains 14% alcohol.  I've looked at two different stores so far.

Do you know if it is necessary to use witch hazel that contains zero alcohol?

Thanks!!

Re: Witch hazel for padsicles

  • With ds1 I was given a bunch at the hospital. Have you had your baby yet or are you just preparing in advance? I'm on mobile so can't see if it's in your sig.

    Just preparing :)

  • Ok. I'm not sure if every hospital gives them out, but I had a 2nd degree tear and was given plenty of them. I would imagine if you need them they will give them to you.

  • Great, thank you!

  • I bought Thayer's witch hazel and says alcohol free on bottle....  was that the brand you were looking at?

Be aware that Thayer's makes a Witch Hazel that has alcohol in it and it states it as astringent. I just grabbed a bottle and didn't read it until I got home, so make sure you read the bottle and grab the right one!

I got mine from Whole Foods and they did have the Thayer's Rose scented Witch Hazel, which I know does not have alcohol in it.

  • I didn't see the Thayers brand at either of the stores I went to.  Guess I'll have to try another place!

  • I got mine from Amazon.

It matters. Have you ever put alcohol on a cut? Do you want your vulva to burn like that? Get the alcohol free kind.

Lol no, that really doesn't sound very comfortable.  I'll keep searching :)

Good! I was so mad that I didn't read it until after I made a few Padsicles :( Thankfully I caught it before needing them!
