Hi Ladies - Quick back story: I'm a genius and decided I wanted to take part for the first year - while pregnant - in our area's holiday boat parade. We are doing a whole tropical beach/under the sea theme, and I decided we needed someone to be a mermaid on the front of the boat. Originally, we invited all of my cousins, and I thought one of the younger girls (high school) would want to be the mermaid. Well, they decided not to be on the boat.
So it got to the point where I was the only confirmed female on the boat, and I was thinking, damn, I'm going to have to be the mermaid. Well, every time I mentioned it, my mom would straight away ask if I invited x and y (two tall, skinny, non-pregnant sisters). This really started to make me mad (like, her rsponse was a split second after I would mention doing it), and I started thinking - it's my boat, I'm going through all the effort to put everything together, so why shouldn't I get my moment?
However, I wasn't too keen on wearing a shell bra with my bump/lump out freely, so I found a solution - on sale for $5.99 at Macy's (will tuck the bottom of the dress under the tail we are making. Hard too see details, but it's all sea green sequins that look like scales).
Because, well, mermaids can get knocked up too, right?
Re: Pregnant mermaid (a rant and solution)
Thank you ladies. Me and Baby Triton (or Triton's love child?) are going on parade!
@ksulli - The dress was on the 65 percent off rack and had no tag. They couldn't find another or it in the computer, so they priced it to the closest looking thing there, which was another dress option I had selected has a back up. That dress was $9.99 (down from $60 something) but rang up $5.99. Thank you Macy's!
