Babies on the Brain

NBR at all...New mattress nightmare...help?

Ok...not baby related at all, just wanted some opinions please.

DH and I just bought a brand new mattress/box-spring set.  A nice Simmons Beauty Rest, semi firm/plush.  Anyway...we loved it in the store, but hate it now at home!  We slept on it for the first time Saturday night and it has pretty much sucked every single night since then.  We've tossed and turn and have woken up with a sore back/neck.  I've called everybody under the sun and they keep telling me to give it time.  They say our bodies need to adjust to all the support.  We were sleeping on a 25 year old mattress!  While I can believe what they are saying...how on earth can I continue to get sucky sleep for a couple weeks waiting to "adjust" to this bed?! I even thought I had a 30 day comfort guarantee, but found out that Simmons does not participate in this!

I've even added a 2 inch memory foam topper and that sucked last night too! :(  We use to sleep on a 1 1/2 inch memory foam topper on our old mattress, so I'm going to exchange the 2 inch for the 1 1/2 and see if that helps at all.

Anybody else experience anything like this?!  Feeling super down, anxious and disappointed... :(:(

  • I would find out the stores return policy before "waiting it out" for several weeks. Would stink to be stuck with a bad mattress. I wouldn't think you should need an additional topper on a brand new mattress.

  • I agree with you.  I called the store itself and the general manager said to wait it out for a couple of weeks.  I then called customer service and they told me Simmons doesn't do any kind of refund.  I wasn't told that by the salesman.

  • That's a burn. Maybe the store will still take it as a return since he said to wait it out? Hoping for the best!

  • Yea...to add to this...I still deal with sleeping issues from my PPD/PPA.  This is not helping whatsoever!

    Thank you for your help.

  • Sorry for your sleeping issues. A good mattress really makes a difference. (I'm a Respiratory Therapist and I work in sleep medicine)

If the store manager is willing if try to return it soon and try a different one. I know they're expensive but I hear awesome things about Tempur-Pedic.

  • Thank you!  My DH just called again and they said to give it a couple more weeks.  My DH even said if we could return, we would upgrade to an even better mattress, probably spending more money.  So maybe that will help...who knows?!

  • Last night was much better!  We walked all over the bed for like 15 minutes yesterday evening.  That is what all the mattress professionals were telling us to do.  To help loosen the springs up.  I think with the combo of that and adding a 1 1/2 inch Simmons BeautyRest Memory Foam topper.  Last night....ahhh....much better!  Thank God!
