TP Tuesday

I don't know if we are still doing these or not, but since I'm up nursing DD I figured I'd post this one. :)

Re: TP Tuesday

  • TP to the fact that babies have favorite sides when nursing. It makes it very difficult to keep calm when I have a hungry baby who will scream for half an hour before latching (sometimes) onto my right boob. :( so frustrating! (And I am trying every trick in the book to try to make it easier/fix the problem).

  • TP to my boobs in general. LO seemed to be eating great since we got home from the hospital but at his 2 week appt he had lost weight. Turns out my boobs are only producing about 1 oz between the 2 of them. So now I'm feeding every 2 hrs, supplementing an oz of BM or formula and pumping afterward...

  • TP to people who come to meet LO and immediately stick their hands out to hold him. Extra TP to those that use the words 'gimme gimme'. Especially if I've spent the last couple hours soothing or feeding him.. I earned that snuggle time! :)
  • TP to my right boob. It has an over supply and Owen hates nursing on it as it just flows way too much milk. I've been trying everything to get my supply down but it's not working so I just gave up and have started pumping it once a day to help relieve the engorgement and am just freezing it. Most days I can get anywhere from 4-6 oz from just that one breast anf just one pump session.

  • Tp to my LC appointment tomorrow. I finally wrapped my head around the fact that bf isn't going to work for us and I just pump in the a.m. to get the milk out because the rest of the day I get nill. I think I will cancel it so I don't beat myself up again.

Ditto this but on both sides! I'm scared to pump because I heard that can cause an increase in supply! Poor lil one chokes and everything!! I try to pull her off during the forceful letdown but she grasps like no other so it's impossible! Instead, she coughs and gulps!
    I'm curious, is pumping helping?

  • @tammura it seems to be helping for me. I usually pump right before/after a feeding on my left side so when it's time for him to eat on my right side I don't have such a forceful let down (ie no more spraying across the room). He still has a love / hate relationship with my right boob, but no more coughing and sputtering. I was desperate last week so I tryed this and it seems to be working for us, so far.
  • TP to stomach viruses.  One is working its way through our house right now.

  • TP to germs in general. DS had hand foot & mouth the first week the girls were home, and now he has pink eye. Blurg!!!
  • Biggest TP in the world to PCOS. All I ever have wanted to do since I got pregnant was breastfeed. Not only will LO not latch really, I don't produce enough milk for her to exclusively pump! It took me 4 years to even get pregnant and now I can't even give her enough BM to not need formula. Fuck you, PCOS. For realz.

Disclaimer: I'm happy that she is getting any BM at all. I am at peace with it for the most part. I'm just having a rough morning since she rooted all over my chest and wouldn't latch earlier.

I know right. At least ill have a huge stock in the deep freeze for the spring when I plan to switch from breast to bottle. And for the odd time when mama wants a drink or two over the holidays.
  • IL's with FB addictions! There are more pics on the internet of my baby with my IL's than of my baby with her parents. Particularly my SIL who is attention seeking.
  • Tp to my boobs. I use to love them and now I loath them. LO was born two weeks early and taken to the nursery an hour after birth due to low blood sugar ( thanks GD) when I finally was able to feed him, he wouldn't latch. We kept trying and he wasn't getting anything, he finally had to do,formula with and sns or syringe and nipple shield. Still he want gaining weigh. My milk didn't come in for four days and when it did LO would scream bloody murder when the nurses manhandled my boobs and his face to latch on. He never latched on and takes formula, from a bottle :(( . I keep try g to get him to take my breast and tomorrow I'm seeing a lactation coach who I'm sure will make me feel, even more shitty than I already am. The worst thing is, I'm getting milk, but when I pump I don't even get an ounce. This is such a depressing thing for me since all i have ever wanted was to give my LO the best chance and breastfeed. My breast are failing me and I'm failing my LO .

  • Finnaroo and gopherbaby13, thank you so much for your responses. It's hard not to beat yourself up,when your LO is suffering in agony with a horrible diaper rash and what seems like a tummy ache while eating. He literally poos during his eating as well as after and sometimes before. He is not happy the last two days. Of course I equate it to me not being able to breastfeed .,I don't know what formula will make him healthy and happy and that's scary .

We just switched to sensitive formula because the organic made him gassy. Hang in there, you are doing great. It's not easy for many of us:) but it will get better.

My LO had a awful diaper rash in the hospital. It was so bad that they refused to use wipes on her little bum. They used a medical cream and wiped with gauze. She would scream bloody murder, so bad that she wouldn't breathe and her heart rate was in the low 200s. So I can commiserate. The formula we use is the stuff they used in the hospital NICU with her, Similac Advantage. She is doing really well on it, with some breast milk thrown in.
  • TP DH for taking only 1 day off work for DS' birth and asking me on the way home from the hospital to watch our toddler DD more so he can increase his work hours. (Kudos to him for caring for DD PT previously - but bad timing going forward! In case he didn't notice I just had our baby a few days ago.)

  • Ladies, Thank youse much for all your kind replies. Sorry I'm just getting back. LO's rash is pretty much gone. We used a prescription hydrocortisone amd A&D. We also switched to gerber good start gentile and it seems to have helped. He still is a bit gassy , but we are using gas drops and they help. He poops a lot but has a few times that he doesn't which gives his bottom a break and that's nice. Being a mom is hard!! I wouldn't change it though, I love the look my LO gives me when I'm feeding him, it warms my heart :)
