Santa visit? -updated with AW Xmas pics

Those of you not under extreme quarantine but just being careful and cautious this RSV season....are you taking LO to see Santa for pics?

My LO is 5 months, I of course want babys first Christmas Santa pics. I thought if we go early enough in the season and first thing in the morning we wouldn't have to wait in line with all the other kids, potentially sick kids spreading their germs. But we missed getting there until now and planned for this week...but then DH brought up a point today, what about Santa carrying the germs? He's got little ones on him all day everyday and likely not washing that suit, he's prob covered in germs.

Ugh, what are you ladies doing? My DH days it's not worth the risk and most of me agrees with him, but part of me is just so sad at this idea of no Santa pic this year :(

Re: Santa visit? -updated with AW Xmas pics

  • No, we are not. We hired a photographer that came to our house and we did a Christmas shoot. I'm a germophobe right now. :-)

  • We definitely didn't go her first winter. I think Santa is probably covered in more germs than the floor around him.

  • I'm having this same thought. Odds are I won't go through with it this year, just too many unknowns and potential issues.
  • I didn't want to risk it last year and this year I know S would cry hardcore. I don't particularly like crying Santa pictures so we will be skipping this year, too.

  • I'm torn on this as well, and honestly hadn't thought about how "germy" that Santa suit could be
  • (Phone posted first part of response- sorry)
LO has been home from the NICU for 3 weeks (he is 8 weeks). I've never considered taking him to the mall to see Santa. I have, however, been looking into private Santa photo sessions. Several boutiques and photographers in our area do this. Maybe check fb to see if any friends have done this?
  • Lol @bromios "disgusting germ-ridden kids"!!! My thoughts exactly. I would like a picture of DD with Santa but I think my germophobia overrides my desire for a Santa photo! Some photos in front of the tree will have to suffice for this year.

  • We took DS last year.  he was almost 6 months  old and not under quarantine but we were extremely careful.  We took him during an off time on a Tuesday afternoon when the mall was as empty as possible.  it was fine but I understand not everyone would be comfortable with that

  • Thanks for the responses! DH and I are on different pages, I think we could do it with precautions set up (Iike a blanket of ours on Santa under Parker and then wash it etc) but DH is very against it, says it's not worth it.
We took some nice shots at home with the tree today that I'm using for his Xmas cards so I guess they will have to do... Of course I'm attaching a couple now!
  • Awwwwwwwwwww!!!! Adorable. Those will be great for Christmas cards. You did good!!!

  • Thanks ladies :)
  • I took my son a few weeks ago on a Tuesday night. There was nobody there and he did not get sick! Too bad the pictures did not turn out that well! Oh well, probably won't chance it again this year.
  • Adorable pics!
Hoping this one stays put a little longer
