I have very strong feels about this. Yes, we're mom and dad to the boys but we are still Allison and Ryan and I like to make sure I don't lose my entire identity and I do that by taking a hard line on stockings, clearly lol
Mine is actually my stocking from when I was a kid, so it says Megan on it. And then my mom made my Husband his when we got married- so it has his first name too. That is how it was when I was a kid too- parent's stockings had their first names.
I have thought it would be convenient if we had just gotten initials- it would be M, D and B which could stand for Meg, Dennis, and Bennett (our names ) or Mom, Dad and Baby.
Mine has my name because my grandma made it for me when I was a baby. I'd like to make stockings for DH and E to match mine. If I do they will have their names on them.
Confession time because I'm a dork. My brother and I have matching old school Snoopy knit stockings that my nana stitched our names onto. When Aiden was born I scoured Ebay and found one and my husbands grandmother stitched Aiden's name on it. I have two more - one for Quinn and one for Ryan but he insists that's "my" thing and he shouldn't have a Snoopy stocking. I think it's sweet and he need to nut up lol Of course, we're out of grandmothers to stitch names on now :-/
I'm making stockings for us this year and am putting our names on them. Before I only had stockings for the pets, but I thought that now that we have a kid, we should probably have people stockings too.
I'm not buying a new stocking for O this year. We have an extra one that he will have this year with no name on it. I want to get monogrammed ones with all our first names on once we are done having kids.
We have stockings already but they don't have names one them. The boys both do though because it's a tradition that all the cousins in my family have the same kind and get them from this one aunt as their first Christmas gift. I get super annoyed because my MIL insists on buying stockings every flipping year because she is of a "the more stockings the merrier" mentality but I make a point of only hanging the one traditionally sanctioned stocking per boy on the mantle. Because I moved to my husband's home town and live hundreds of miles from my family so I hold my damn ground on things like stockings. I'm not bitter
We just have our first initial on our stockings. LO's stocking just says baby's first Christmas. Next year I'll get him a fun stocking and probably put his initial on it as well.
