C-sections

Scheduled Caesarian

I have a scheduled c section this Tuesday December 3 and I am so excited to meet my baby girl but so nervous! I am a FTM and any advice would be helpful to get me through the day! :-)

Re: Scheduled Caesarian

  • Get up and walk. Get not just stool softener but gas meds too. My gas pain rivaled my c section pain. Try to take a shower everyday-- you will feel so much better.

  • Go ahead and take some colace today and keep taking it in the hospital. Seriously... That first poop is brutal.

  • I am sure it sounds crazy, but enjoy it!  I was sooo nervous when I found out that I had to have a c section.  But it was one of the coolest experiences of my life.  It's normal to feel shaky, cold or hot, and not be able to feel yourself breathing.  (Luckily, I didnt have the last one.)  I told my husband to keep talking to me so I wasn't listening to what they were doing.  Once the baby was born, I was too distracted by her to be nervous.

Afterwards, like others have said, get up as much as you can.  Stay ahead of your medication.

  • Either stock up on the giant mesh undies from the hospital, or buy big granny panties! I did both and they are so much better than my regular undies.
If you don't already, get some nightgowns. You won't want to wear pants for a while because they rub against your incision. For the times you need to wear pants, put a pad on the incision inside your undies. It makes a nice little cushion. I'm 3 weeks pp and I still don't like wearing pants. If I do, I wear them old man style, all the way up by my belly button.
  • Ask your dr for a binder, it was a huge help with getting around. I'm still using it 3 weeks later.
    Good luck tomorrow!
