20week ultra sound, could it be done at 17- 18 weeks?

Mine was previously scheduled for 19 weeks but due to some not perfect sequential screen results, my doctor tole me I could have it earlier at 17 weeks 6 days so I didn't have to worry for several weeks. Inasked if it would still be ok to check all of the anatomy and she said yes. Hoping all looks good!

My doctor does elective gender scans at 16+ weeks (for a fee). My next appointment is the Thursday before Christmas, and I'll be 17 and 1/2 weeks. We're doing the gender scan that day, having the tech keep it a secret and put either our girl outfit or our boy outfit into a gift box, I'll wrap it, then DH and I will open it together on Christmas morning. Anyway...you didn't ask for all that extra information The answer is yes.

My MW didn't want me to have it much before 20 weeks.  A couple days would've been OK but 18.5 weeks would've been both more convenient for us and also would make me happy to know sooner rather than later if LO is growing OK, but she said it's really better to have it later (20 w.) to be sure they can see all they need to see and really that is the most important, so .. we're waiting 'til 20 weeks.  2 weeks, 2 days to go.  We already know (unless the blood sample was bad or something) it's a girl and trisomies are very unlikely, but are very anxious to know if development is OK in all other ways.

I agree with all of the PPs, it depends on the practice and your doctors. Mine required me to schedule between 18-20 weeks (and not a day earlier), so because of scheduling, I have it on Monday (18 weeks and change). Can't wait!

I posted yesterday and said I'd ask my doctor about my situation and check back in. I had a checkup this morning with my OB and I'm going up to Duke hospital in 2 weeks for my A/S. My doc said 17w5d should be close enough, but if they can't get everything they need, they'll just have us come back. Worst case, they can get the rest of it when I go back up for the fetal echocardiogram at 24 weeks. She didn't seem concerned about it.

I had my A/S with my DS at 18 weeks.  I'm in the same boat as you, 18 weeks on Christmas, we'll see what the OB says next week.

I found out the gender of my son at 16, and my daughter at 17 weeks. So it is very possible I think it is just preference of the practice. My doctor has done both anatomy scans well before 20 weeks with absolutely no trouble.

I'll be 18 weeks and some change - mine is set for 12/20.

My NP scheduled it for 16-17 weeks and the techs were miffed because the heart was too small to see everything. My repeat was Tuesday (see ticker).

I have mine schedule for 17 +3 which falls on Christmas Eve. My dr was completely okay with it. She did comment that the main reason she was good with it was because I haven't gained any weight yet. She said that can make it harder to see clearly. Counting down the days!

Mine will be at 17 weeks and 2 days.

We found a place in Oklahoma that will just do that gender part for 50 dollars and they will do it 18 on. So since we won't be 20 weeks until janurary and we decided to wait until them for insurance reasons we will be paying 50 dollars to find out on the 20th. That way we can know before Christmas and it's also my Christmas present.
