I suppose this post could wait till tomorrow since we technically start the holiday season then. I'm assuming we should steer clear of Eggnog until LO's arrive? Or is it okay if it is pasteurized? I do love a fattening treat as much as the next person...
The way I figure it, some eat deli meat, some eat sushi, some have the occasional glass of wine. Drink your egg nog and feel no guilt! (Unless you want to wait and call your doctor tomorrow...)

The BEST eggnog is the alcoholic kind... oh well. It really is tasty. Its like how eggs make custard thick and creamy? Well it makes the nog thick and creamy. Plus the spices like the nutmeg just make it that much better. Don't knock it till you try it (a decent brand anyway).
I just googled advocaat and educated myself. Interesting.
Do you get it in the states? It is amazing!
I will ask DH tonight. He works in a liquor store that has a wide variety of eclectic, rare and foreign drinks, so if they sell it anywhere in this area, it would be there. I'm going to ask if he knows what a Snowball or Fluffy Duck is
ETA he always buys a bottle or two of good alcoholic eggnog every year
I have been drinking eggnog lattes for over a month now. I have to limit myself to 2-3 a week I love them so much. There is only one brand of eggnog I will drink , and i LOOOVe it. Some of them are too slimy and bleh. so much.
The only alcoholic drink I am actually looking forward to right now is a spice rum and eggnog.
Southern Comfort makes a delicious non-alcoholic egg nog. You're supposed to add your own to it, but it tastes pretty good on its own. I've given up dairy but am considering cheating just to have some.

I love egg nog too. I like the southern comfort one too and dairy gold. But I bought some of the albertsons store brand and it was awful! Had this gross bitter aftertaste to it yuck.

The local dairy makes theirs and we add to coffee and tea for lattes. I've done the french toast adding the nog instead of milk to the egg mixture. Oooooh okay... Breakfast tomorrow. Maybe (overnight) baked french toast....

That said, today I made French toast with Horizon organic eggnog and it was good.
