So I fell in love with the name Rhett Joseph if this baby is a boy. I think sounds awesome and will age so well. But...
My favorite book (and movie) is gone with the wind.
Weird to have a baby named after a character in your favorite book, especially such a well known one?
Not a negative thing right?
Will everyone think wow that's lame?
Am I just overthinking?
Re: Totally lame?
Overthinking it, as usual
Our future children will have a FN from books. I hope it isn't lame because we are pretty set on it. Haha

Rhett screams GWTW to me, not sure if I'm in the minority or majority of that. I could never use it because I wouldn't want a name that had that strong an association for me. And I wouldn't recommend someone use Rhett unless they were 100% comfortable with the association, the GWTW references - I'm envisioning him being asked if he gives a damn by uncreative people trying to be funny. It's such a big, classic movie, and big, classic scene of a movie, that it won't be forgotten anytime soon
As a teenager, I used to be absolutely obsessed with all things GWTW (including the name Rhett) but my biggest hesitation was always that it's not the most politically correct tale. Not that that should stop you from using a perfectly nice name, but it is something that's bothered me.
Kind of like how I heard the name Karina on e! One day and really liked it and ended up using it for dd.
inspired but not named after.

DD shares a name with a character in my favorite movie, but I did not name her after the movie. Some people think I am that kind of dork, but most people have never even heard the name before. I feel that your situation would be similar.
It really is a great name and meets my no nickname, not popular, easily spelled and short to go with our super long and complicated last name.
