Thoughts on Gretchen?

When you think of Gretchen, do you think cute/nice name or witchy/annoying sounding?

It's growing on me.

I've only known one Gretchen in my life and she was a girl I went to middle school and high school with.  At one point, that would've been a negative association, but we've kept in touch some, and it's more positive now. 

It's a name that I used to loathe, but I find myself liking it more and more.  I find it somewhat bold, definitely not cutesy.  I feel it's a strong name.

It's a fine name, but NMS. Something about the way it sounds is a bit grating, IMO.

I would love to meet a baby Gretchen, but it's a bit too harsh for my taste.  I prefer Greta.

I love it. Probably because that's the name of one of my favorite people. But, i think I'd like it anyway.

Not a fan of it. It reminds me of the girl from the Real Housewives.  I've also known one Gretchen in RL that I didn't care for, so it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I like it.  It does have a harsh sound to it with the hard "g" and "ch" sounds, but somehow I think it works.  I agree with pp that it's a strong name. 

I did have a cat named Gretchen growing up, but I don't think it's a cat name.

First I think witchy, but then I think of Gretchen Weiners from Mean Girls, so I think it could go either way

I like it, but I also have awesome associations with it. Unfortunately, I know more than one personally, so I won't ever use it.

I love Gretchen. I'd seriously consider it but for a close association which makes it challenging for me to use

ETA and like PP I find it bold/strong, not cutesy. It's why I like it
