Santa?

Are you introducing Santa Claus to your LO this year? Like, explaining the whole concept of Santa coming on Christmas and getting them excited for it? I don't think I will do it with DS, as I don't think he'll quite "get it" yet. Maybe next year. How about you?

I don't think DD will get it this year. I'm not 100% that we will do Santa at all. I didn't have Santa growing up (my mom didn't want to lie to us, but she has a whole ball of issues from her own mom), but DH did. It might almost be unavoidable with the in laws. MIL still puts "from Santa" on our gifts which I think is Stupid with a capital S.

ETA: our local fire department brings Santa to your house to give your kids a gift for a small donation so I am considering doing it because I think that is sweet.

I hadn't planned to but he started it with me. We were looking at pictures and he started pointing and getting all excited saying "Santa! Santa!" I assume they talk about Santa in daycare? I may have made reference to him when we saw decorations but I hadn't pushed it. So I asked "When does Santa come?" not expecting an answer and he said "Christmas!" and laughed. Later I asked him what Santa would bring and he yelled "Presents!" Methinks grandma might have something to do with this. Anyway, I guess I'll take it as far as he wants to take it this year. Even though he seems to know what it is, I don't think he's all in yet so I don't have to go nuts with it! ETA: Wait, I forgot that we did have a Santa experience and I think I know why it stayed with him! We were at the mall and there was a fire alarm about 2 weeks ago and everyone had to vacate. Santa wound up coming out with us and he was a super cool, very authentic looking Santa (real beard and all) and he took it upon himself to entertain Alexander. Then, a huge fire truck pulled up and A went out of his mind excited and Santa and I took him over to the truck so he could explore. He got to meet the firemen, too. For a 20 month old, it was pretty much the best night anyone could ever have!

We took him to get pics with Santa last year. He did really well. The best pic I have is hilarious. He is looking at him with a total WTH look on his face. We will take him again this year. We don't worry much about presents yet though. DS just loves all the Christmas hubbub.

We will definitely do Santa pics (this coming Saturday, actually) and he did really well with Santa pics last year so I'm hoping this year will go well too.  I don't think he'll really get the concept of Santa bringing presents this year, but I'll try to explain it and see how it goes.  A might not understand until next year.. that's okay.

Jake knows who Santa is but I don't think he would really understand the concept of Santa bringing toys and whatnot. This year, we'll stick with Santa pics and just general banter about the guy like any other character Jake knows.
Next year will be trickier. We haven't decided exactly how we want to handle it. As Christians, we really like to focus Christmas as the birth of Jesus. Santa is cool and I'm fine with him wanting to believe in Santa as a little kid, but I don't want to push it. We'll probably never go gangbusters on it. Just silly fun stuff.

We will do Santa pics and talk about Santa bringing presents because DS1 fully understands and believes.  We will set cookies and milk out and DS1 has already written a letter to Santa.  Obviously that stuff is over DS2's head but we'll get him to help us set the goodies out on Christmas eve with DS1.

We will also be doing Santa. DS knows about Santa but I'm sure he does not understand the full concept. Last night "Santa Claus" the movie was on and DS was posted watching it haha it was pretty funny. So yes for Santa :)
