Another update

I got my amnio results back. My little boy has Down syndrome. I'm really shocked and frankly really upset. All of my doctors were also surprised but say it makes sense in retrospect.

This will most likely be a post and run. I'm still processing and haven't told anyone. You guys are my guinea pigs for saying it out loud.

I could handle everything else. I was ready for the heart condition and the NICU. I'm just so done with bad news. I'm tired.

I am so sorry. I know its a shock. It will be okay though. I was talking with a 9 year old boy who has downs at the library the other day and he was one of the sweetest people I have ever met! He was very smart and compassionate.

I feel your pain. It is hard to know that there is something wrong with your LO that you can do nothing about. Remember that it is okay for you to grieve the loss of your chromosomally healthy baby - cry it out and take the time you need to process.

I have two friends who have children with Down Syndrome. If you live in the NJ area, PM me. I have the name of a great group of parents with children who have Down. They offer support and can be a great resource for specialists, etc. Also, it's OKAY to feel sad, disappointed, angry, and very upset by this news. It does not mean you're a bad person. You're human. You had an idea of who this child would be and it's normal to take time to mourn that loss because it is a loss.

I totally agree with this. I worked with adults with down syndrome and some of their parents never grieved their loss of who they thought their child could be an it is 30-40 years later. Take this time time to grieve.
