I'm getting a promotion! Or rather a new job that has been created for me, which involves a pay raise and possibly (but not confirmed) hours that will better fit my lifestyle. I'm so excited, I wasn't even up for one, just taken into the office and told today...then asked to not disclose anything to the other staff until things can be finalized. Which is why I'm kind of bursting at the seams because just about every friend I would care to tell is a work friend.
A woman above me recently left us after being there for 14 years and now the place is kind of in chaos. I am primarily front office reception, but the staff in the back were saying they'd hope I would take on her job. I didn't really want to go that far because a lot of her job is boring paperwork I'd hate to be stuck with. Instead thought, they've decided to give me 2/3 of her job mixed with some new duties they think will help things run smoother, and the other 1/3 of her job will be divided by 2 other people. I'll basically be the head of a department that has never had a head before, and therefore has been totally all over the place for some time now.
I get to go back to my animal health roots which is what I went to school for, so I am ecstatic about that. I can't wait for this to all unfold in the next few weeks. I'm basically vibrating with giddiness right now. Time to brush up on my research and pull out some of the school books again.
