Pain on one side of incision

I had an unplanned cs 11 days ago (first baby) they glued it closed. Everyone says how great the incision looks ect. No leaking. But on my right side I have pain not actually my incision but under it if that makes sense. On the edge. I take my pain medicine as told. Just curious if anyone else had this (hard to explain) pain and if they found out what it was if they asked. Hurts when I lay in bed esp. Thank you. Sorry if that's confusing.

Yes, I had this. It was moderately painful if I laid in the wrong position, and extremely painful when I would get up from lying down, or if I laid on my right side. My mw nor ob knew for sure what caused it, but they said others have had the same complaint, usually in the right side, and it could be scar tissue forming, pain at the uterine incision (the two don't usually line up) or inflammation affecting the round ligament.
Eta: both asked that I check my temperature to keep an eye on the possibility of infection.

  • Yeah.. I had this too. Usually the pain increased with my bleeding and that usually meant that I had over done it. So just keep an eye on it and make sure to take it easy.

  • I have the same issue with my right side. DH watched them pull the baby out and swears that he came out on that side. My Dr was standing on my right so maybe she pulled him more that way.
  • Me too on right side. My doc said there were some muscles there and it was very common to hurt more on one side. My scar is even slightly more to right side so I guess it makes sense. Good news, it decreased in pain gradually until no pain after about 5 weeks! Good luck

I had a similar issue. My doctor said that during delivery there had been a small amount of tearing on my right side. He stitched a knot (internal stitch) in that area. He said it was likely pushing against a muscle and would dissipate, which it did. It did hurt pretty bad for a few weeks though.

  • Mine is on my left side. The day of my c section i told the nurse it felt like my incision was opening but it turned out to be a good 3 inches away from my incision site. Not sure what it is but it still hurts 1 week pp.
  • Yeah I'm just now at 2 weeks and the right side is still sore. Just need to remember we had major surgery. Stuff just doesn't fix itself over night unfortunately.
