where does what belong?

I need help. What do normal people put where in their closets &/or drawers?

Do you fold jeans and have them in a drawer or do you hang them in your closet? T-shirts, folded or hung? I have a nice big closet but need help figuring out what to put where. DH side is freaking nuts. His shirts are in color coded order, long sleeve to short sleeve. I need help.

maybe I should just page mbenit4?

TIA!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: where does what belong?

  • I hang dresses, dress pants, button down shirts/blouses, maybe a couple of sweaters, coats.

Everything else goes into drawers when it actually makes it out of a laundry basket.

  • Loading the player...
  • Dresses, coats and dress shirts hung up. Then everything else, t-shirts, shorts, pj's, jeans and slacks folded. We have a very small area to hang up clothes, think half of a closet. The rest is built in sliding drawers. I am very lucky if it gets put away though!

  • Oh there's people who take shit out of the laundry basket and put it away? heh....
I'm actually REALLY good at putting DS's clothes away... because seriously mornings SUCK if I can't find his clothes quick and easy.

Same here. I don't hang sweaters, because it leaves hanger indents.

Yeah, it can stretch them out too.

Although really, I rarely wear sweaters anymore.

  • Well, right now we have a 10x5 closet, and only one dresser that we share with DS2. So, the vast majority of stuff goes in our closet, either hung or folded (we basically have shelves on one side, rods on the other). When we move, our closet will be way smaller, so it will mostly just be dresses/suits/shirts and everything else will go in our dresser(s) we plan to buy.

Work clothes and dresses get hung in the closet. Casual clothes get folded.

  • Drawers: socks, underwear, bras, pjs, sweat pants, schlumpy tshirts (the kind you only wear around the house)
Closet: jeans, trousers, suits, jackets, blazers, sweaters (actually usually folded on a closet shelf), cardigans, blouses, casual but nice t-shirts, dresses, etc.

  • I hang everything I possibly can. It goes jackets on the far side, long sleeve shirts, t shirts, tank tops, dress pants, jeans, skirts, dresses. Also, DH's nice shirts and dress pants are hung in another little area.

I have my underwear, socks and undershirts in my nightstand and I have a set of plastic drawers in the closet with lingerie/tights in the top drawer, jammies in the second drawer and sweaters in the bottom drawer.

Coats are hung in the living room closet.
