I'm so excited. I love Christmas decorations. I'm usually a stickler on waiting until after Thanksgiving, but my SIL convinced me that since it's late this year it's ok to decorate early. What's everyone else up to?
We might put up our little tree, but with baby coming soon, and precious little extra space we probably won't get out our big tree. Stockings will go up too, but it's likely that everything else will stay packed up.
I want to put ours up so bad. I even cleared out the corner and rearranged stuff for it to fit. DH thinks we should wait until after Thanksgiving but I'm hoping I can convince him otherwise. I have a little felt tree and decorations up for DD to play with.
I just started cutting out our Christmas stockings. I'm using a McCall's pattern for kind of Victorian looking stockings. They're a lot fancier that what I grew up with, but I wanted something whimsical. I'm doing two with pointy toes and two with curled toes. I'm SO excited.
I'm a bit nervous about putting up our tree b/c DS wants to touch everything. Just having our live plants moved inside is a constant chorus of "leave the plants alone." I need to get some shatter-proof ornaments. Any other good Christmas tree toddler-proofing ideas?

I was kind of thinking of getting a smaller tree and putting it up on a table, out of reach. I was actually thinking of getting a pair of them and putting them on either side of our couch. I think it would look cool and be easier to keep DS away from. DH isn't convinced, though.
Only decorate the top third of the tree. Or do what we did and put it in a room with a baby gate blocking it! G was mad, but I don't trust him to not pull the whole tree over.
Oh, my OCD would so not let me decorate the whole tree! If I put it in the dining room, I can limit his access. I also like the idea of doing a smaller one and putting it on a table. I used to have a little one for my classroom. I wonder where it wandered...

I put non breakable ornaments near the bottom of our tree last year and just kept reminding DD not to touch them. I also have a special basket of "Christmas Critters" (christmas themed beanie babies) and she would decorate and undecorate the tree with them. Surprisingly didn't mess with the ornaments. We're putting a train around the base thise year. She's going to flip. I can't even wait!
I always had more problems with the cats undecorating the tree than the kids. In 1997 for ds1's second Christmas, the cat even disassembled the tree during the night and ds1 never touched it.
With how tiny our house is, I keep hoping that I can get away without decorating but I have been over-ruled the past 2 years but now we got rid of the big tree and so we will have only a small tree on a table this year. I might put it in the corner and then angle the sofa in front of the tree/table. Ds2 isn't mobile this year so I don't have to worry about that issue with him yet.

Re: AW: Look what We're Doing
@bookitup aww sorry to hear LO is sick. Croup is awful stuff. Hope he feels better soon.
Hot chocolate, Christmas music, and the finished product. So fun!
I ended up packing my daughters 12 and 18 month old clothes away. I need to buy another bin for storage.
I also need to sort through her toys and store a few and move her train set to a bin.
