DS has typically only used it when sleeping. However, he does always have one clipped to him when riding in the car. He very, very seldomly uses his pacifier otherwise though.
N decided one day around 6 months that he didn't want it any more. I am glad he gave it up on his own. We were encouraged to give it to him in the beginning since he was a preemie with IUGR to help develop his suck. He only ever liked one kind and always the newborn size.
LO started using one in the hospital the day he was born, but stopped taking it a few weeks later. I still give him his wubbanub (paci attached to small stuffed lion) in the car, but he just chews on the side of it... or throws it
sammie wasn't a huge paci baby till about 6 months and I admit I encouraged it.... now I use it when the screaming gets me.. but I see her walking around the livng room playing and sucking on it I will pull it out.. she NEVER cries if I take it away ...
I was thinking of starting this discussion ! Always for sleeping and most times in the car. We started to get away from it but lately been using it more. Sometimes she'll find one on the floor under her crib and pop it in. She loves that thing.
We are trying to limit it to sleeping only. But with teething, I think it comforts her, so sometimes in the evening I will let her have it. It either seems that the paci or food soothes her and I would rather it be the paci than food.
We have teething chewies, but she doesn't like them as much.

A had never really cared for them. I tried to make him like them when he was little. He takes them for a little bit when upset or at night to go back to sleep but kicks it out after a while.
LO used it for a few months before bed time but he doesn't use it all now. He's been bedtime paci free for like 6 months. No weaning for me. WOOT WOOT!
