I'm canned whole berry. I used to hate cranberry sauce until I realized I was eating it wrong. It's a garnish, not a side dish. I like to mix it into everything on my plate. :P
I used to only eat the jellied, but now prefer the whole berry. I've made homemade before, but I'm the only one who will eat it. My DH and Aunt actually prefer giblets...blech
We do canned whole berry, then add raisins, walnuts, cinnamon.... Sooooo delish. We also always get the canned jelly one and put it out just as a funny tradition. When I was a kid, my grandma always bought the can jelly one and half way through the meal would jump up and run into the kitchen yelling "I forgot the cranberry sauce!". That slurpy suction sound when the entire jellied sauce somes out of the can is priceless
I voted "make my own" because it's not at all hard and it's way yummier, but that's not the truth anymore. Sadly my DH feels that it's not thanksgiving without slices of canned jelly, and it seems stupid to spend even minimal effort to make something when he'd literally rather eat from a can.
I refuse to have both when it's just the two of us and a toddler, but I'll do both when there's a big guest list.
I usually make my own, but let my parents take this over this year because they complained about MIL's veggies, so I said they had to do the sauce if I made veggies, turkey, etc. they will bring a can cuz that's what my dad likes.
I should've voted SS - I voted whole belly canned but I actually love the whole berry kind that my aunt gets from Roche Bros. It's from the prepared section so it's neither canned nor homemade.
Making your own involves sugar, fresh cranberries, and OJ. You bring it to a boil basically until the cranberries start to pop if memory serves me right. It's really easy.
Canned and jellied. I want the ridges in the side and everything. I may or may not have eaten half a can by myself the other night... with nothing else....
Without the ridges how do you know where to cut it, right?

What? Turning on my stove? This just got too complicated.
Lol I wonder if there's a microwave recipe I passed on doing it this year too actually because I'm making a bunch of other stuff.
Re: Cranberry Sauce
It's so easy to make your own. Boil the ingredients and simmer. My cranberry sauce has apples, brown sugar, karo and oj in it.
I make a cranberry chutney instead.
