We have our family coming over for Thanksgiving. Most of the kids including my son are young. Then I have a 12 y. o niece. any cute ideas to keep her entertained after dinner, etc?
Honestly you might be better off not planning anything. That's a tough age, she might just want to sit and hang out with the adults. Or perhaps she's the type of girl who really enjoys entertaining the little ones. But I wouldn't plan anything, she might view it like you are treating her like one of the kids who needs to be entertained, know what I mean?
I agree with the pp. My nieces are 11 and 14. They love playing with our kids (7 and 4) and even younger ones. But they also like to play games with the adults (favorites are rummikub and yahtzee), and sometimes will sit and text their friends. One thing you could have set up is a big puzzle table in the main area where you'll be hanging out. So anyone one wants to, the 12 year old or adults, can sit and work on the puzzle while talking.

I agree with the pp….She is at a tricky age. I know 12yos that are still "little" and I know 12yos that act as if they are going off to college.
I find with my nieces that they enjoy helping - in the kitchen, with the kids, etc. I often task the older cousins with helping my DS build forts…couch cushions, sheets and clothespins will keep them busy for a long time
Also, games. The older kids like playing games with the adults.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
