those who post and don't respond/follow-up

Why do you ask a question and then never come back to say thanks, or provide more info, or tell us what you did? This pertains mainly to drive-by type posts so I guess I can answer my own question, but it is still annoying.

I am guilty of this! I'll be honest, I get scared I will be posting too much so I wait too long. I also worry that I am going to sound like an idiot in my replies so I hesitate posting. This isn't because of anything on here making me feel this way. I'm just super self conscious. I really do appreciate people's advice and support!

i think it is most frustrating when people ask a question and everyone responding could use more info, but the OP never returns to fill in gaps. 

Also, when a ton of people respond it is common courtesy to let everyone know what you are going to do.3

I think that sometimes people just want to know someone is having a similar time with whatever it is. I think once they have that then they relax. Maybe they just asked the question to get it off their chest? People deal with things so differently.

This isn't a workplace. This isn't walking into a room full of women. For some, this is a place where they can finally ask things without being judged. It's no different than other chat forums.

I always try to follow up. I don't treat this like a place of strangers etc, but for some with no place and no support I can understand their ride by posts.

I think (hope?) people just don't realize you should introduce, answer other posts, etc. before expecting to have all this rapport that somehow falls from the sky.

Yeah it's a discussion board on the internets but it is nice to recognize handles and get to know the ladies.

Also, if one more person asks how much weight we've gained I'm going to go batshit insane. None of your damn business just talk to your doctor about it. Also a special fuck you that you never came back to say "oh this is why I'm wondering" or "well I've gained this much".... I already feel bad enough that I fart uncontrollably when I get up from the couch without seeing that I'm nearing the 200 lb mark.

Meh. I'm likely guilty. I'm a SAHM so if my toddler starts to have a meltdown, or needs me, or throws food, or hits the dog, or runs into a wall, or has an itch on her finger that makes her cry, I need to attend to it. I often forget whatever the hell it was I was doing prior to her crisis. We're all busy in our own way and if we don't follow-up, oh well. I don't think people do it to be intentionally rude, it just happens.

#1. Nothing about my OP was "sensitive" (nor do I think my posts or replies are typically "sensitive")

#4  If someone comes on here with "what should I do" type posts and women take the time to offer a solution it is simple courtesy to respond with thanks and/or follow up. This wasn't really intended for the "how much weight have you gained" or "let's compare symptoms" posts.

I think I'm good about responding to posts that I create but I'm not so good about responding when I've left a comment on someone else's post and then someone responds to my comment. I don't always go back to the post after I've commented. It'd be nice if TB notified you when someone quotes you or if you're always linked (@) when someone replies to you specifically inside another post.

I had the experience of being the only one who responded to a post and although poster was back on tb she never acknowledged that I had responded. Bad enough BUT what makes it worse is that she then later had the audacity to say in another thread that was about something similar that she had asked the same question the week prior and no one answered. Wtf?!? So i then pointed out to her that I had in fact responded and yet again she ignored me. Seriously?!?

I agree this is irritating, and it's also part of the reason I don't start many threads. I'm not around enough to give it the follow-up that I think is not only courteous, but also due to the ladies who take time to provide thoughtful responses.

I don't have anything in my siggy (that I knew of) but I am mobile so it doesn't matter to me. I did manage to log on to a computer one day and change my avatar, but that's as far as I ever got.

It makes people NOT want to post in fear of how rude some of you bitches are! What happened to the simple ness and excitement of having our babies?
