I like formal holidays. I want to get dressed up and eat off china with great stemware. My family likes to be super casual and eat off paper plates, so no one has to do dishes. It breaks my heart every year.

@hilarityensued my family is a mixture. When my grandmother was alive we had a long table and a kid's table all together. Everyone dressed up and we are on her good dishes,but wine and conversation was flowing. Then we would go upstairs and go crazy with the presents. Now we don't dress up and we do it at my aunt's house and sit at different tables in different rooms

I sometimes do this subconsciously and it is completely unintentional. I am from the south and my accent has a very faint hint of "southern". My DH is from NY and when I am around his family I will pick up just a bit of their northern accents. When I am around my older family members who have strong southern accents, my accent thickens. I accidentally (slightly) mimicked a British accent one time on a business call years back and I was mortified. I totally did not mean to. I turned ten shades of red and started to cry. lol
