  • I'm a little late .... Always. No don't buy anything until the second trimester. I have an antique dresser that my husband bought for the baby I lost yesterday that the only reason I haven't taken an ax to it is because he hid it near his antique car, and I'm sure I'd damage the car in the process. He moved it because everytime I look at it I cry. So just wait!!
Oh Pinto, I'm so sorry! ((hugs))

I'd echo this, buying things so far before there's even the hint of a baby in the picture is NOT a good idea.  Even buying something cute to surprise your husband with the 'I'm pregnant!' news can backfire, as I well know - the cute little onesie I had custom made last fall, then used as part of a gift to my hubby to tell him about the BFP I got in December, now sits in a box deep in my closet because I lost that pregnancy in January.  I don't see it often, but when I do it still really hurts.  Go crazy on Pinterest if you much, but save the actual buying for your third trimester.

I am so sorry to hear that... ): If I do anything cutesy to announce my pregnancy to anyone, I will probably wait until I get through the first trimester, and when I announce it, I'll do something cute like a little picture frame or something. I'll figure that out later. But you are all definitely right, I would not want to put myself through the pain... I will definitely learn from everyone else. Thank you for the advice. I'm praying for you, I hope you get another BFP soon! And I pray that once you do, you have a healthy pregnancy all the way through! <3
  • Wow! What a show! And a surprise happy ending! Don't see that often. :) Like PPs have suggested (I kinda started a tread like this 2 days ago too) you never know how long it will take you to get pregnant. It can take up to 12 months for a healthy couple to conceive. Assuming that goes well, losses do happen sometimes- and having baby stuff around can break your heart. Most losses happen in the 1st trimester, so once you make it to the second, it's safer to buy. THAT SAID, baby showers are awesome. :) You never know what you'll get. Also as a PP pointed out, sometimes you can get completion coupons to get the rest. Personally, I only pick up big ticket items, or little things I pick up on a whim. I don't get anything on my list til after the shower- then I go nuts. :) FTR, I was really young with I had my kids too, married at 18 and a mom just a couple months after my 19th birthday. I was also lucky to be a SAHM, but it didn't end well. In the end, I have three amazing kids, time heals all wounds, I got my degree, started a career, met a wonderful man, and we are starting a second family. (In that order) I won't tell you how to life your life, because I don't regret mine. But it was a very long and hard road. Since you said to think of you as my child (lol!) I'd say the road I traveled was worth it, but I'd personally rather my child not take it. Too much heartache and bruises that way. :( Have a great day, and try not to drool in the baby aisle. My DH usually takes my arm and pulls me past it while he laughs at me a little. :) Eta: sorry for the novel. Eta again: please use paragraphs, it makes like a lot easier. Also- if you turn your smiley faces the proper way, TB changes them to pictures. :)
Thank you! I don't mind a novel, I enjoy reading everyone's responses! And about my smiley's, it's always been a habit for me to turn them backwards every since I owned my first cell phone at 17 years old lol :P I will definitely try to break that habit, the smiley's are so cute on here! :) lol
I hear what you're saying about not living my life the way you live yours, and I also appreciate you not trying to tell me how to live it :) You are simply giving me much-treasured advice! I do appreciate it, really! :) I hope I don't end up with the same outcome as you... Unfortunately, I do plan to continue along the path that I have started on :) I just pray that I won't end up having to come back to you later, saying "you were right, my heart is broken... Now I have a baby and we didn't work out" I just pray that everything goes as planned :)
He and I are already planning to get married soon regardless of whether we get our BFP or not, we are happy and in love and definitely ready to spend forever together :) In fact, he is 27, and hasn't been in a relationship in 5 years, because when he was younger, he was in a relationship with a girl for 6 years. He thought everything was great, but he realized that he didn't want to spend his life with her. Ever since then, he decided not to even be in a relationship with a woman until he could see himself being with her for the rest of his life. He was looking for wife material, a woman he could treat like a queen that would appreciate it and treat him like a king in return. And he finally found someone who will love him unconditionally and remain loyal to him. :)
And something similar happened before I found him. I have been waiting all my life for him, and I can't imagine my life with any other man. I have never been treated this amazing, and I honestly didn't know that men still had manners and respect for women like he does. I mean, crap, he still opens the car door for me every single time I get in the car, he pulls my chair out for me before I sit down. We do not have a fairytale relationship, but it is as close as it can possibly get :) I found my Prince Charming! <3
I'm sorry for the novel as well, but I just felt like sharing that :) I know that there will be many women among you that feel iffy about our decision making process, but I assure you, we are happy and definitely ready :) I really do treasure your advice, and I appreciate the concern! Thank you so much for everything, and I hope that you still want to give me advice later down the road :)

    Sounds painful.
I kinda want to vomit OR run out in front of a train.
Because of my rolling eyes statement? Kind of dramatic. I would think that's way more tolerable than all the god bless you's and smiley faces.

I would hope that my positive attitude could rub off on everyone, but that's a little unrealistic ;P I would say I'm sorry for being happy, but I'm not :) have a wonderful night ladies! I'm definitely not trolling :) I actually AM a very happy, kind person! Despite what happened earlier this morning. I'm sure everyone would rather me be overly sweet and happy the way I am now, rather than be childish and upset like I was earlier :) Am I right? Just because someone is happy and sweet doesn't make them a troll, though I can definitely see why you'd think that, since it's rare to find nowadays ;P haha I'm just kidding. But people definitely aren't as nice as they used to be :) just accept my kindness and let the happiness rub off on you!<3 have a beautiful night, it's bed time for me :) Goodnight!

Nope, this is just as bad.

Well then I guess there's just no pleasing you :) what a shame, I'm not here to please, I'm here to make friends with people that actually want to be friends with me. I'm sorry that nothing I do makes you happy. But it makes me happy, so I'm probably not going to stop :)
I'm not hurting anyone by being so smiley and bubbly, therefore I'm doing no wrong. And if you don't like me because "I'm too happy", then I don't want to be friends with someone who is so grumpy :) lol misery may love company, but misery will never love me!

No, probably not, but there are plenty of young 'uns on these boards that aren't this nauseating. And OP is over compensating, she didn't throw so many smilies around when first posting, nor were her first responses to anyone in this thread this sickeningly fake. This isn't *really* her as she claims, she's doing it now to call attention to herself and prove some sort of obscure point.

  • This is way too much sunshine and rainbows and unicorns before noon.
  • You are not alone on this. I have the same problem, it's just so exciting. But I have decided that I too need to keep myself occupied so my main focus now is to get the house ready and cleaned up for when it is time to start buying the things we need we have the room and are ready for it. The amazon wish list is a good idea! Anyways don't worry that you are not alone because I am the exact same right now, it's just exciting and it's hard to contain it!

Well, I wish you luck in your future. I'm the excitey-bubbly type too. So how old are you anyways? Guessing 18-19? You've told us your boyfriend's age, but not yours? And when's the wedding date? Or is it not quite "official" yet? I'll admit I'm curious. :-?

Eta: Thanks for the paragraphs! Now just hit the return key ONE extra time when you start a new paragraph. It's a lot easier to read on the internet (and especially mobile) when you have space between.

    Eta: Quite fail.

Eta: a third bloody time, because spelling is hard.
I'm actually 21, and we haven't set a date yet :) we're waiting for him to finish at least the rest of this semester of school. We are going to move to Mobile so he can finish at a University, but we don't know if we're doing that this coming summer, or the next one :) either way, we're getting married in Mobile on the beach. So it is mostly going to depend on what we decide to do, I kind of want to stay here in town another year, despite having to put off getting married :) I'm not in a rush, I know it's going to happen :) lol

No seriously I AM that smiley and happy all the time. But when I'm asking a serious question, guess what? I don't smile. I show that I'm being serious.

And I have definitely been cutting down on the smilies just so y'all can stop getting alcohol poisoning lmao I don't want anyone to die over my smiley faces, God forbid...

I have a friend who is very bubbly and happy.

She doesn't put 50 smilies in every email or text though.

Well I'm not your friend lol I am already trying to accommodate to everyone else on here. But I swear to God, I'm not going to be someone different around every person I meet just so they'll all be happy.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned while I was in trade school was to just be yourself and love yourself. If 90% of people that you meet don't love who you are, 10% will, and those are the ones who's opinions I'll worry about.

Ever since I learned that lesson, I've been SO much happier. :) I'll compromise about the smiley thing, but I will not change for a total stranger just so they can stand reading my posts, okay?

I'm doing all I plan on doing about the smiley thing. If it's not enough for you, then stop reading this thread and read something that you know you won't mind reading. Please, don't waste your time reading something that bothers you.
