At my place of work, there was an incident where a fire extinguisher was knocked off the wall, causing it to explode. It was downstairs below my room. The building is open (it's a school with large, open hallways), and as the fire alarm rang, I got my things I needed and headed out of my classroom. I had to walk down the stairs through the dust to get out of the front door. I breathed as little as possible, and when I did take the one or two needed breaths, I tried to breathe through my sweater. I was literally in the dust for less than 45 seconds. I felt fine once outside, my throat seemed a little coated and my belly burnt a little. I am thinking it's all really in my head. I feel fine now and we were not allowed back into the hallways until it was cleaned up, an hour and a half later. Has anyone ever had this issue come up? It's odd, and I can't find much information on the internet. I have called my OB, however, they have yet to get back to me (I called over two hours ago). Just wondering if I can get some info from any of you?
Re: Fire Extinguishers and Pregnancy
My OB never returned my call yesterday, even after I called a second time 10 minutes before the office closed (3 hours after my first call). I'm not exactly thrilled with the lack of communication, but I'm trying to stay positive about it. I figure if it was a pressing issue, I would have heard back by now.
