NBR: casual shoes

I'm searching for some casual shoes that aren't sneakers. I currently wear a pair of Vans slip ons but I want something a little nicer. Clogs and mules are out because I can't walk in shoes without backs (honestly.) I tried a pair of Sperrys Top Siders but they literally made my feet look like boats.

Any ideas???

I wear ballet flats almost everyday. I have them in so many colors!

Toms or Keds maybe? Comfy flats, perhaps (you know with arch support and whatnot)?

I have a few pairs of ballet flats but they don't work as well when it's snowing!

What about Danskos?  I am not a fan of the style but they are supposedly extremely comfortable.   Also, I agree with PP maybe some flat boots or something.

OMG you need to buy Dr. Scholl's flats! I have a pair of flats and a pair of sneakers and they are like walking on a cloud!!! I got both of them at DSW for super cheap on clearance. They totally upped my mom-style.
