Teething

So DS2 is cutting molars on top and bottom and he just opened his mouth and I thought I saw something. At first I thought his bottom molar had come all the way in and I thought that it was fast. But I looked closer and it almost looked like a square-shaped blister or chunk of his gum just hanging there off the gums! I pushed it kind of and it didn't seem to bother DS2, but it looks weird and I've never seen that before. I tried to take a pic, but he wouldn't let me. Does this sound normal???

Re: Teething

  • This exactly happened to us when DS's bottom molar came in. First there was mushy looking flappy skin, that's the only way I can describe it. It was almost kind then of brown. Then it turned black under the gums and I flipped out and called his pedi who said it was normal if he wasn't running a fever and didn't seem to be in extreme pain. His tooth came through a day or two after that, so maybe a week after the mushy spot.
