My DH is dead set on naming our LO Lucy, I'm just not sold on the name thus far...I don't hate it, I am just not sure if I love it... If you were to choose, which one would you go for...Last name is 4 letters and starts with a P.
I'm normally a fan of the more formal FN and informal NN. But I think Lucy is great as a stand alone and don't particularly like Lucille. I also far prefer Rosanna in the MN spot to the far more common Rose.
All this. I am generally not a NN as full FN fan, but I don't think of Lucy as falling into that category, and it's one of my very favorite girl names.

Lucy is a full name on its own. Lucy, Lucille, Lucia---they're all different language variants on the same name. Ending in Y doesn't make a name a NN (Mary, anyone?). I love the name Lucy! Lucille is pretty meh for me. It's pretty well connected to Arrested Development for me, which DH and I quote constantly. ("Loose seal! There's a loose seal!" "No, I'm not worried about her anymore!" And also, "But Lucille mistook the drowsy eye alcohol warning for a winky-eye alcohol suggestion.")
I love Lucille and Lucy equally, I personally would do Lucille b/c that was my grandmother's name. Unless Rose/ Rosana is a family name it is overused in my opinion.

My grandmother's name was Rosana (She went by Rose) so that is why we are sticking with a variation for the the MN. DH's grandmother's name was Lucille, so that is why we are trying to choose one for the first name.
It wasn't an option but I would prefer Lucille Rosanna. It sounds complete with a nice flow and balance to it. The names are similar in style, too.
Rose is so overused now. It's refreshing to see Rosana instead. It is also a direct nod to your grandmother instead of shortened to Rose.
I don't mind Lucy as a stand alone name. In my mind it is similar to Sally, and can be on its own just fine. I much much prefer Lillian to Lily, and other examples usually but Lucy I like. Good luck choosing!
