Re: ~~~ TTCAL Newbie Checkin (week of Nov. 19) ~~~

  • Hey G! So sorry about the internet. That sucks. And thank you for running this check in, I look foward to it weekly. I just love all you ladies! I have not been temping as we are not clear until next cycle to TTC, but I can tell my body is gearing to "O" by my CM and ovulation pain. Right on track with my kindara chart and pre loss cycles. I'm cycle day 12 right now and almost always o on 14. My last HCG was 8 and she is still wanting me to come in to track it down to less than 5. I guess I'm thankful she is being so thorough but my poor veins! I work crazy shifts at the hospital and don't want the stress of temping. What is the general concensus of the board in regards to BD every other day? Any thoughts? QOTW: I really like guacamole. I could eat chips and guacamole all day. Washed down with diet dr. pepper and followed by cake batter ice cream from coldstone. Yup...all of that
Hubby doesn't have a huge sex drive and sometimes has trouble finishing even when we just try for EOD, so that's our only option - try for EOD around our FW.  If we get in 4 sessions of sex in 7-8 days we're doing pretty good for ourselves!

Hi G, thanks for checkin! I never realize how dependent I am on technology until it goes haywire.

No updates for me, CD10 and waiting for O. I think I am going to make this my last Newbie post, it's been almost 6 months since I joined the board. Thank you so much for all the support you all have given me.

QOTW: that's a tough one, I couldn't survive without chocolate or bread.

So true the bolded - we're lost without our WiFi at home!  I check stuff on my phone with 3G but it's just not the same, and I certainly can't be watching videos or Bumping very well on there!

It's been great to have you on the checkin, I'll miss you but as always I'm glad when someone feels comfortable venturing out beyond! ((hugs))

  • Hi all- Starting to heal and think I'm ready to move to the board... My song of the week is last hope by paramore and it's giving me hope that things are going to start turning around!! If I could live on one food: asparagus (I'm weird- I know)... Or gluten free pumpkin cupcakes from SwirlZ ;) My brief intro: I recently had my first pregnancy, first loss. I'm 28. MMC at 15 weeks on sept 19- tried to natural MC (I was sure that everything was out but at my ultrasound-- everything was still completely intact..) had a D&c on sept 27. Had my first cycle nov 5. Just waiting on confirmation that my levels are back to zero and a second cycle to start trying... Sigh
Welcome to the checkin ((hugs))  The waiting is hard, but it's time your body needs both emotionally and physically, hopefully it goes by quickly.

@kalynn12 just last night I was wondering how long we are allowed to stay in this check in. It's my favourite part of my bump week. 6 months seems like a good length of time. I'm into my 3rd month. Sorry to see you leave! I'll be talking to you though!
There's no set time, some stay for months, others leave quickly.  Just depends on a person's comfort level, whatever feels right is all good!

Good: my body is trying to ovulate. (I think)

Bad: I've got a head cold and my husband is out of town all week so even if I do ovulate I think our chances this month are pretty slim

I love to bake so my biggest weakness is chocolate chip cookies. Mmmmm delicious straight out of the oven.

((hugs)) and hopefully you hold on to ovulate until the cold is gone and YH is back!

Hey G!  I'm sorry that your internet is not cooperating for you.  I hope it's back up soon!  When do you start Clomid?

Update on me:  I finally got a +OPK on Saturday.  FF gave me cross hairs for Sat, but changed them to Sun.  We had good timing so we shall see.

QOTW - I LOVE sausage stuffing and could eat it everyday!!!  I'm not a big stuffing fan normally, but my mom's sausage stuffing is delish!!!

I started the Clomid yesterday, CD5.  So far no big mood swings or hot flashes, but we'll see I guess - it's funny, hubby was looking at me funny yesterday almost expecting me to just burst into flames or something, I told him I don't think it'll work that way or even that quickly.  Men are so goofy!

I don't like 'normal' stuffing, but sausage stuffing sounds like something I could enjoy!

  • So last night I was mobile bumping...(which drives my husband nuts... he said I need an intervention, first it was FB, then it was pinterest, then it was weddingwire during wedding time and now this) anywho... I was finally able to go through and read everyone's so here goes!

thanks everyone for the virtual hugs and annoyance agreeance with the nurse! I am feeling better about all of it, but of course now trying to get all of my additional questions/demands organized so I am prepared for the 10th...

I am going to start tempting/charting/using OPK again once AF comes in attempt to get in tune with my body.... if anyone has any advice on brands to use, etc feel free to share! I use FF, and had tempted ( but struggled with finding a pattern) I am not 100% sure when I ovulate so I thought that this time around I would try to use OPK... totally new to me... are they pretty fool proof or are there tricks to the trade?

I feel like I'm going through serious Bump withdrawal having no internet at home - I can look mobile, but you can't see who made the posts which is annoying, and I hate making or answering on my phone, so it's just not the same. *pout*

Definitely check out Wondfos from Amazon, they're cheap so you can test OPKs two or three times a day and not feel like you're breaking the bank to do so.  They're not really tricky to use, you just want to make sure you're testing enough - most of us seem to find testing around lunch time and again around supper time works pretty well.  FMU isn't usually useful for catching your surge.  As for thermometer, any women seem to prefer the Mabis, but any one that goes to two decimal places should do.

Hey y'all, sorry I'm late to the party! @gscoville Ugh on the internet being down, that truly sucks!

Well, it's been a crappy week, followed by a crazy weekend, to a slight scare yesterday. The crazy train is still fully parked at my station (sigh). I had to go the doc yesterday b/c I thought I had a hernia from my surgeries. I dont, thank God. However, I will be dealing with some sharp pains as my body heals (oh goody). He said it's possible I have some adhesions but there is no way to know for sure unless he operates again. He isnt going to do that unless absolutely necessary. BCP is still driving me crazy. I told doc about it and he said there isnt a lot we can do about it. He said if AF doesnt show that I get to POAS. Sigh* I really feel like I'm losing it. I just keep thinking, one more month on the BCP then I am done!

QOTW: Honestly, I LOVE cranberry sauce. I would eat it til it made me sick if I could. It's completely sad.

((hugs)) I'm sorry you had such a rough week/weekend, and that BCP isn't treating you so well.  Hopefully that darn BCP does what it's supposed to for you and you get a good plan moving forward.

Thanks for the update G! Is your internet back up yet? If not you can come over and eat some potatoes with me and use my computer :)

I FINALLY ovulated at CD54! I really thought I was going to lose my mind. I got a OPK that was slightly darker than the test line last night and this morning it was much much darker. DH and I HIO two nights ago and last night. He said he's up for one more night tonight too...bless his heart :) What are your thoughts on that? Is three nights in a row too much as far as his suplly is concerned? My surge will probably last until tomorrow morning, should I wait it out tonight and then go again Thursday night? 4 night in row (that sounds crazy).

Even if nothing comes from this cycle, but AF that will still be a win considering I thought my body had completely shutdown.

GTKYQ: I could cheesy potatoes, or potatoes in almost any form forever. I love them :)

I'm glad you're on track for ovulation finally, yay!  To be honest, if you HIO the last two nights I would give tonight a rest and then go again tomorrow, that way you're covered for ovulation happening today through Friday or even Saturday.  Ovulation can happen 12-36 hours after the surge you detect on the OPK, but that's if you only get a positive for one day.  Some women get positives for two or three days, with ovulation happening usually 12-36 hours after the last positive, so waiting until tomorrow might cover your bases better in case of a longer surge that you have to HIO through.  I know when I first started TTC with OPKs and temping, hubby and I went nuts with our first +OPK, then I got positives for three days and temping only confirmed my ovulation two days after my third day of positives - we went great guns too early and couldn't keep going and get more sex in when it was really needed.

@gs - I don’t like that work is getting in the way of you being able to bump – that’s not fair – you should speak to someone about that LOL

My update for the week – hm….waiting waiting waiting.  DH is waiting on his 12/6 appt with his new PCP to get blood test to see if he is a Cystic Fibrosis carrier.  I am waiting on my 11/26 appt with a Maternal Fetal Specialist at my doc’s recommendation.  Oh we did find out the results of the testing from my MMC and it was Trisomy 9 – that is what prompted the appointment with the specialist.

Question of the Week:  In honour of the Thanksgiving gluttony that is coming up for my American friends - if you could have an endless supply of any food, what would it be and why?  I guess it would be fried chicken – it’s been my favorite food since I can remember.

Haha I like your way of thinking, work should definitely accommodate my Bump habit! ;)

Looks like things are moving towards getting some answers, I'm glad you're on your way although I know the waiting sucks ((hugs)).

Hey ladies, I'm being an AW. I just got my birthday gift from DH. I asked for a pandora bracelet and a black speckled looking charm. I wanted a remembrance charm for the baby we lost. Our nickname for the baby was "Poppy" or "Poppyseed" so that's why I chose a black charm. He had me convinced he got me something totally different for my birthday gift. It was a beautiful surprise and wanted to share!!!

Hey G-ugh about internet! @abryars-I was the same way felt bc it happened first try pre loss that it'd happen that way again. I cried on CD 1. Now I'm telling myself we'll I was off BC for three months so this is month three post loss so it'll happen this time. Haha. Happy birthday! @jlworden710-sorry that's how you found out that stinks! Update: today my crazy level has gone up..I'm dpo 9 and trying to keep from testing til Thursday. Did well today so just have to get through tomorrow haha. Question: for thanksgiving food it's a loss up between mashed potatoes and biscuits.
Sorry for another negative this morning contributing to your crazy level.  ((hugs))  For what it's worth, I'm not entirely sure you've actually ovulated yet based on your temps, FF hasn't given you a coverline, just a possible O date, but your 'post-O' temps aren't actually any higher than your 'pre-O' temps - they need to be noticeably higher to confirm ovulation.  I'm glad to see you're still testing with OPKs, as you might catch another surge.
I'm not either and I swear the target brand sing super reliable. So if it's not this cycle then next cycle I'm still gonna do target brand (bc cheaper) but has a digital brand to confirm. Yeah my temps don't seem reliable. Do you know what open circles mean?

Open circles are usually given when you temp at a different time than your norm (half hour or more difference) or if you mark sleep deprived on your Specifics chart. And it may not be that your OPKs weren't reliable, you just might have tried to gear up to O when you got those positives earlier but didn't actually O - that does happen.

@jlworden710 -Glad you were able to get more info about your ute.  Good news is good news!

@tvandewi - I hope you get more answers soon.  I was also recently diagnosed with PCOS (which was news to me!).  Hopefully you'll be able to work with your doctor to figure out a plan moving forward.

@libby+nate - ED or EOD is fine.  If your H has known sperm issues, the general thought is EOD.  If no issues, ED.  Basically as long as you're having sex during your fertility window, it's all good!  Hope your levels drop quickly.

@rmpar29 - I am not currently seeing the RE.  We decided to wait until the New Year (about two cycles) and try on our own before heading back for more treatments.  I do attend a support group at the RE's office, though, so I've been in contact with one of the nurses on a regular basis.

@Stasi - Congrats on the +OPK!  I'm always in the camp of more is more.
