Hello to everyone! I have ds born 3/12 had a chemical pregnancy in July.. Got pregnant again and diagnosed with blighted ovum last month...had to wait a cycle so now on cd 11 to start this month. I get pregnant but can't stay pregnant. My dr did no testing said for me to just wait for golden egg...should I demand testing? I also ask family dr.(via nurse)..she didn't even call me back:( thought I would start out with progesterone and fsh ,etc.....good luck to all us ladies on this board...trying to stay positive..

I'm so sorry for your losses.  It is very hard and scary to move forward.  I hope you find this board helpful and friendly.

I'm a huge advocate for being as aggressive and knowledgeable as possible when it comes to anything health related.  I'm not a doctor and not in the medical field but I've been down this IF road long enough to know that something as simple as blood test can save a pregnancy.  Maybe it's something simple like low progesterone…easy fix!  I think it is beyond insensitive for your doctor to tell you to "wait for the golden egg"  Are you effing kidding me?  No offense to you but that would have been my last appointment with that doctor.

Blood work won't harm you at all.  It will put your mind at ease if everything is normal or you can have a plan of action if something isn't quite right.

I'm assuming because you posted here you are AMA.  I wouldn't wait.  I'd find another doctor and get the ball rolling.

Do they have to do the blood work on a certain cycle day? They gave me prometrium suppositories on last two pregnancies because hcg wasn't doubling. Progesterone was low..like 11.5 or something..200 mg twice daily...still didn't work...I ask shouldn't I start it at ovulation or couple days so babies would stick and was told no...wait for hpt to be +...that seems counterproductive???my husband is from Europe and had me do prometrium 3 days past ovulation...like in Europe,,,my ds didn't have any problems...sorry so,long post:(

It depends on what they are testing for…Certain b/w (FSH) has to be done on days 2-4 (?) of your cycle.  The other tests I'm not entirely sure but I don't think timing is as important.  I wish I could be more helpful with specifics…I can only speak to what I have been exposed to but my knowledge of progesterone is more in line with your H's experience.  For example, I had my IUI on Monday and will begin Prometrium on Thurdsay…so 3 days passed ovulation. I have been told that progesterone won't hurt you if you don't need it but will support if you do.  Is your husband in the medical field?  Either way, you and your doctor need to get on the same page.

No actually my H is a lawyer...lol...but he has known several people that have been through fertility treatments. They went to Greece for treatments, and they started the progesterone two to three days after ovulation. I have 3 refills from my first miscarriage so after I see surge on my stick gonna do it this cycle...I know it won't hurt , maybe will help:). I read not to do before will stop ovulation I think...I did have a u/s and they checked ovaries , tubes and uterus...they said everything looked very good...they also said I had corpus lutem( I think it called) which showed I ovulated.

With my IVF cycle we started Progesterone in oil shots the day after retrieval.  In an IVF cycle retrieval day is considered ovulation day. Can you inquire about shots vs suppositories with your doc? There is quite a bit of discussion on which is better, but my clicnic said shots are the way to go.  As well, the shots help in monitoring progesterone levels if you end up having bloodwork to test that. I don't believe progesterone levels get detected in blood work when using the suppositories and that's why many RE's use shots so they can monitor it closely.  Given that you have low levels, I'd think your doc would want to do the best thing for you to increase you chance for success.

Are you considering going to an RE or a doc who will do a full work up of testing on you and your H?  I know your doc said wait for the golden egg, but I personally would want more out of my doc for something that is so important. With the proper medical care perhaps it would make you successful sooner.  As others said, I would be moving on from this doc pretty darn quickly.  Doesn't seem like he/she is willing to do the necessary testing and create a protocol that is best for you and your H.

I hope however you plan to proceed that you find success very soon, though!

I can help you a little. I just repeated most of these tests. I was told by my RE that FSH is to be done day 2 or 3 of your cycle. I also did estradiol, TSH- a thyroid test and AMH levels. My RE mentioned that only FSH had to be done at a specific time so I did all my tests on the same day it was easier. Since I did Ivf my experience of progesterone was like private one's above. My tests were done about a year ago and my numbers are much worse. i would run the tests as soon as you can so you have the whole picture. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the info! Helped a lot I'm gonna try this cycle with prometrium if I get pregnant and it sticks great if not then yes I'm going to look into an re in my area. I actually have gotten pregnant quickly each time but miscarry...ds no problems...they checked hsg and progesterone tell me it's low and hsg is not doubling and do prometrium supplements but obviously is either to late to stick or maybe chromosomal ...in case it's the sticking is why H wants me to start at O this month...is that all clear as mud:)

If so would it be ok to stop them a couple days before? I was gonna test Tuesday morning before going will be 12 dpo...or will he wait to see if af shows to do the tests then you think? Sorry new to all this:(

The first testing he will likely do is CD3 bloodwork, it would be 7 DPO bloodwork that tests for progesterone.  I think as long as you stop the prometrium when you get your period you should be fine for the tests, and I'd guess that you shouldn't be taking prometrium next cycle so that the 7 DPO tests are true to what your body does naturally, but I don't know for sure, you might want to ask about all of this at the RE's office.

Ok didn't think it would be next cycle duh...:)...the family dr did say to let him know we tried this month..if successful sure hopes it's sticky..you women here have helped me so much!

Truthfully, I wouldn't take anything this cycle if you are doing CD3 b/w.  You want to start with a clean slate.  Good luck and that's an exciting step!!

Yeah excited I'm on cd 22 now so , family dr said to let him know I didn't know I was seeing him and started progesterone and ttc this month...if it worked , she said he might be able to figure out sticking problem...

I would stay on your progesterone. Obviously tell the doctor, but the first appt is usually a consultation to get to know your history. The doc may or may not do a transvaginal ultrasound and will likely give you a schedule for tests next cycle. You'll stop the prog when your period comes, but for now take it- it's purpose is to support an early pregnancy if you have one and you never know.

That's what I was thinking...and if I don't do everything I can at least on my own this cycle I would never forgive my self if something happened...thanks for response:)
