At home insemination....

Hi, my husband and I are TTC via insemination.  Donation is from him (he has problems climixing during sex).  So he does it in a sterile cup and I get it out with a syringe.  But when I insert it and inject SLOWLY it all seems to come right back out, especially after I take the syringe out.  I'm inserting the syringe all the way to the plunger.  Help!  What am I doing wrong?  Maybe I'm not tilted enough?  Even though I have two pillows under me.   Thanks for any tips.  We've done it twice this month and I don't want to make the same mistake next month.
