Dh & I like the name Allison but are unsure about the spelling. Also, would love to hear middle name suggestions! Our last name begins with an L if that helps at all.

Thanks!

  • We were thinking Allison Quinn or Allison Louise...

I've always liked it better with one L. Not sure why, just looks "cleaner" to me somehow. The extra L in Allison doesn't add anything. Either one is fine though.

Please don't do Alyson, I'm tired of Ys randomly replacing Is in every name.

ETA I really like Alison Quinn! If your last name begins with L then Alison Louise might be too much. But it depends on the name.

  • I prefer Allison but agree with PP not to do the Y.

  • I like it with one L, too. Neither middle name is my style.
  • I love the name Alison! And that's how I prefer it spelled.

I love Alison Louise and think it's fine with an L last name.

Alison Brooke comes to mind right away for me.

I think Allyson - spelled this way -  is a perfectly acceptable way to spell the variation of the name Allison. Two l's and a y.

Of the spellings you've listed.  I like Allison Quinn best.

I do agree with pp that some randomly placed "y" to substitute for a traditionally placed "i" is pretty bad, but in this case - VERY acceptable. Allyson is not some made-up spelling.

Don't worry, I'm working on it.
