Nightmares??

Just recently, my 4 1/2 month old will wake up screaming bloody murder for a few minutes and nothing can calm her down. But she'll fall right back to sleep when she's done crying. Is this normal?

There is a similar post to this one already. Seems to be something some babies do. Definitely not a nightmare, too young for those.

my baby has been doing that since he was about 3months, (he's now 4 months).  He doesn't cry for a long time, about 10-15sec, and he doesn't even wake up.  He cries and continues to sleep.  I attributed to nightmares, but now I'll have to ask the ped and do my research.

My LO does this in her sleep every so often. At first if scared me, but now we just check to make sure she is asleep, and pat her back to comfort her. It usually only last a couple seconds.

Same here. My lo is 3 1/2 mons and he's been doing it since he was 1 month old. We just pat him and make sure he's sleeping and he quietes down very quickly.

My babe is 4 1/2 months she started doing that when she began teething. 2mos ago! I just lay my hand on her gently so she feels the warmth and pressure and she settles.  I dont pick her up b/c I dont want to fully wake her. But yes its heart breaking to hear her cry in her sleep.
