Would you call the cops just in case?

I'm at work and DH texted that there was someone on our lawn with a flashlight. He opened the front door and said hello, and the person took off running. DH says he thinks it was a teen.  We live in a really quiet, safe neighborhood.  I'm 90% sure it can't be anything nefarious (teen, front lawn, flashlight) but it's still weirding me out. Would you call?

Early evening, I'd be less inclined to be concerned. Late at night where someone might assume you we're either asleep or out, I would be more bothered. Although I don't know what police could do other take note in case anyone else reported strange activity.

I probably would...just call the non-emergency line and give them a heads up. That way, if they get another call, they'll be more inclined to check it out.

Thanks for the replies. DH said he was shining the light towards the window but shut it off and ran when he opener the door. No accurate description. I told him to call in case something else had been reported. Guess we need to start shutting our windows.

Yes, I would so they have a record. Our house was broken into last winter in the evening (since it gets dark so early) when DH and I weren't home. Now I'm super paranoid about this kind of thing.

I am in law enforcement and would most definitely call.  They may not be able to do anything about your particular incident, but it lets the zone officer know there was a suspicious person in the area and to extra patrol.  More police presence in your neighbor can't be a bad thing and it may scare off the person/people who may be scouting the neighborhood. 

We have people call about a "suspicious person" riding at bike.  At 2pm.  On a Saturday afternoon.  It was an 8 year old kid.  Jeez.
