"Train up" - completely disgusting

Warning: This article is about a book that advocates child abuse as 'training'. Parents following the techniques are in jail for murder. Nothing is happening to the authors of the book. This isn't even the first time a child's death has resulted from following the techniques. 

 I checked out the website (nogreaterjoy). I don't recommend it to anyone.. I am in tears. 

How is this legal? They are worth $1.7 million.

How horrific. I will never be able to understand how anyone could be so cruel to a child. The authors of the book deserve to be left out in the cold, starved, and beaten!

I have a lump in my throat. I couldn't even read the full article! It is so tragic that some babies and children are subjected to this level of cruelty and abuse!

How is it that in the US we ban/challenge books left and right but this book we are totally ok for this to be available to people at Amazon. 

This makes me sick....I am very much a "to each their own" with parenting decisions but to follow a book that tells you how to beat your children in a matter that will not attract attention from authorities is sick. 

How many kids have to die before something happens. Child abuse is everywhere, we don't need a manual for it.

All of this! I was just talking to my mom about how some books are 'banned'. Society is so backwards. There is a petition in the article to stop Amazon from selling the book. I am obsessing over this today.. it makes me so sick.

Wow. There is something severely wrong with the people that wrote that book. 

I went to their website. They talk about hitting a 6m old for knocking his cereal over, or rather before he even has the chance to knock it over. Like the 6m old is trying to manipulate the parents and purposely defy them with that act. Seriously?!?!

It doesn't seem to be about training them but about crushing the LOs into submission. I wouldn't use these methods on a dog, let alone a child!

I know little to nothing about the legal system, but why is it not illegal? I read up about freedom of speech, and freedom of speech is NOT absolute. Couldn't this be challenged as a hate crime? The suggested treatment is basically the same as the Nazi's treated the Jews?

Ya this is shit! I can't image feeling scared all the time. And thinking when will the next time you will get beat, will you even know what you did wrong was wrong! I Just wish everyone loved for there children, child abuse isn't love

@Michelle N I could be completely wrong, but the way I interpret it is that even though the ideas and garbage they teach is horrendous, they aren't making threats at anyone in particular. If they did, that would be a crime. People taking the advice and abusing children based on the book is a crime. I am hoping Amazon comes through and removes the book from the marketplace so if their crap isn't illegal, we can try and limit the distribution or availability.

I almost started crying reading this, and got a big pit in my stomach.. And to recommend this book to anybody?? Just disgusting! I feel so sad for the kiddos that have parents that believe that trash.

So so sad. The sad thing is this abuse "works". If not dead, these children will probably become a shell of a person who is trained to shut off emotions... I feel like this is training someone to become a sociopath.
