GTKY: know/met anyone famous?

I saw this on septembers board and it was fun to read! Hope it hasn't been done here yet, I've been a little busy the past few days.

So A13, do you know anyone famous? Or related to someone famous or was able to meet a celebrity. Spill! DS2 still isn't STTN so I need something to read. :)

  • Kerri Strugg. My childhood hero from the 1996 Olympics. I was a gymnast until I was 15 and then due to an injury I had to find another sport.

I was walking in New Orleans during a st Patrick's day parade and it was REALLY crowded.. I literally RAN INTO Nicholas Cage.. Like into his chest "omg I'm so sorry" type deals then realized who he was. We (my sister and I) got a picture with him.. Unfortunately, it's on my phone that is completely dead and won't turn on. Lucky me. :(

ETA: I also met Michael Welch, who plays Mike Newton in the Twilight movies when my hubby and I were extras in a movie. He's really nice.

We've seen Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) doing extra work.

We've also met a bunch of horror movie celebrities from working at the haunted house we work at. This year we met William Forsythe (the devils rejects and Halloween) and Dan Yeager (leatherface). Last year, we met Ernie Hudson (ghostbusters) and J. LaRose (saw and insidious).. And a bunch more that I can't think of. Next year I'm rooting for Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead) to be one of our celebs so we can meet him too!
  • My answer, no one really. I went to HS with Darren Sproles, he plays for The Saints now but he wasn't really a friend or anything.

I also went to HS with Corri McFadden who had a VH1 show called "house of consignment" (not sure if it's still on anymore).

My husband hung out with Josh Duhamel at a private Indy 500 event when he was the pace car driver. Swoon. I could have accompanied DH to the event but chose to work. Big mistake.

  • Just last month within a span of four days I met the Duggar family and Karen Kingsbury. Not quite "A List" but I was excited!
  • My sister-in-law is one if the contestants from Survivor.

or you're all the way grown,
    my promise to you
    is you're never alone.
You are my angel, my darling,
my star...and my love will find you,
    wherever you are."
  • @BlueJewelM I love me some Sproles!! Diehard Saints fan over here though :)
  • I meet Dj lance rock. Took a photo with him and got his autograph for SS!! I was working and saw he was onstage and ran to the backstage and started taking pics on my phone. Someone from his crew asked if I wanted to take a pic with him when the set was done. Heck yes!! So I took some pics in uniform with Dj lance rock.
  • I have been to a Survivor(the TV show) reunion, and met a few of the stars....awesome time.

When I was a teen, I met Richard Nixon....He was at Radio City Music Hall. He was signing stuff, so my grandmother sent me over. I ended up in the row behind him...like right behind him. I was about to hand him my program when I was pushed out of the way....up over the seats and half way into his lap! Secret Service about lost their shit, I was panicked, but Nixon laughed, helped me on my feet, signed my stuff, and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

Ohh who? (You don't have to tell if you don't want) I love Survivor!

I've met a few celebrities in the last few years mostly due to work. I planned charity events in Manhattan. I also did extra work and have a friend in the movie "biz" so I've been to a few movie premiers. I went to one quite pregnant and at the after party I felt like I was going to faint. So I sat down at a reserved table close by just to get a hold of myself. I looked up and was sitting right next to Glenn Close! She was lovely and understanding.

Anyway- I've met, Robert DeNiro (he told me to call him Bob), Mekhi Phiefer, Dule Hill, Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Brian Geraghty, Billy Crystal, Sutton Foster, Bernadette Peters, Joel Gray, Stephanie Block, Michael Douglas, Donna Karan, Jason Bateman and that Alexander guy from True Blood that everyone's all crazy about. (I didn't know who he was!)

  • Lets see I know josh Harris from deadliest catch but you all know that...he's my drinking buddy,
I've met holly Madison, coolio, that red headed kid from the sandlot and the big green, I forget his actor name but he was golfing with "Hyde" from that 70's show and so I made a bloody Maria for "Hyde" and a screw driver for red headed kid. Um and my cousin is married to the producer of the Sarah Silverman program and curb your enthusiasm ( Erin o'malley)
And I met Luke longley when I was 4.
My brother used to be a smoke jumper and although I don't consider these men celebrities but HEROES... I met most of the smoke jumpers that jumped and parished in storm king mountain fire...including my brother who jumped it but lived! ( thank God) I helped him design the grave markers that sit on storm king mountain to this very day...( they are metal parachutes)

  • I've met quite a few famous people over the years.
Peter Steele (Type O Negative) gave me a banana after a concert.
I met Amy Dumas (Lita -WWE Diva). She complimented my hair!
I walked out of the kitchen at my work and almost spilled soup on Jack Black. Saw a lot of celebs that night. It was Dave Grohl's bday. I've also seen Dave Beckham, Tito Ortiz & Jenna Jameson, Vince Vaughn. A lot of celebs come to my work. We've also had a lot of reality shows filmed there.
My friend's sister used to date Jesse James (pre Sandra Bullock)

My husband was working Comikaze the other week and got to meet Stan Lee. I was so mad, because I had asked if I could go with him and he said no!
  • @zever000 the country singer? Because right away I started singing Alberta bound in my head

Haha, yup! I'm glad someone else here knows that song.

  • I'm related to a Desperate Housewife. My great grandfather and her great grandfather were brothers. We don't know each other but we share the same last name (my maiden name). My dad is FB friends with her mom.

  • I have seen Stevie Wonder in passing, he was staying at the same hotel as me.
  • I used to work for the WWE so I worked side by side with all the wrestlers...I know that they are "G list" celebs at best but my fav was John Cena. Such a cutie! And as a kid my brothers watched wrestling so it was cool the first time I met Hulk Hogan & Sgt Slaughter. And we had old school celebs like Luke Perry, Screech, and Jason Priestly who would come backstage for tours.

My fav celeb moment was meeting Sara Jessica Parker in a random vintage shop in Soho. I stopped in my tracks, said hi and we chatted about the shop & the access tours we were purchasing. An awesome Sex & in City moment!

I've met a few NBA players who at one time or another played for the Orlando Magic.

Biggest names: JJ Redick at the movie theater.  Ryan Anderon at brunch one morning.  For a while my husband managed accounts for Marcin Gortat & Patrick Ewing.  We met Matt Barnes after a game once.

I know where Doc Rivers, Shaq, Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter and several other NBA stars live ;)

Edit: And I've met Chris Kirkpatrick (at a magic game...) he still lives in Orlando.

Almost forgot! I worked at the school where Jason Witten, Demarcus Ware and Keith Brookings kids' (cowboys players, or former) attended and was the teacher of Witten and Brookings. Have to say best behaved kids and hilarious to boot!

    Eta: spelling
  • I went to high school with the Manning brothers.  The oldest, Cooper, was a year behind me, but was full of himself back then, so I had no interest in associating with him.  Peyton and Eli were a few years behind me.

I have a picture with Clint Eastwood when I was about 10, because they were filming around the block and using our next door neighbors' garage for their eating area.  They wanted to block our driveway with the catering truck, so my dad said it was fine (it was overnight and we had a circular driveway anyway), so long as we got a picture.

  • Yeaaaa, no one. I suck.

    Yup. This is me too.
  • Kate Middleton and Prince William waved at me :). It felt like I got punched in the stomach I was so excited! This was last June.

I also met a new singer, Tyler Shaw. He sings Kiss Goodnight. We have mutual friends who are getting married, so we were both at the engagement party.

  • @Moosesoar who is your cousin?

    Anniversary

  • I used to work for the tv show Extra so I've met a lot of people. DH still works there as a Sr Producer so I still make it to some of the parties and stuff, where I see many but don't really talk to them.

I know Mario Lopez obviously because he is the host, and Maria Menounos. The old host of the show, Mark McGrath, who is a super nice guy.

My uncle is a singer/music producer who had a few hits in the 90s but you probably have never heard of him - Jude Cole. He is married to Michelle Pfeiffer's sister, so I have met her several times. And he is BFFs with Kiefer Sutherland so I have met him as well.

  • The band Saliva, and the majority of the MN Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, and Wild. Both current and former players, as H is a massive sports fan and collects autographs.

  • I wrote this over on September because I post on that board too (due to my due date).

My grandfather is in the NBA Hall of Fame. He played for the Celtics and the Hawks back in the 1950s, and he even played in quite a few All Star games. He was pretty famous back in the day. When older people hear my last name, I always get asked if I'm related. Then people start rambling about how awesome it was to watch him, which is pretty cool. I've only seen grainy videos. He always got recognized in public too. Of course, I never really thought of him as an NBA star. By the time I was old enough to understand, he was retired and had become a Catholic deacon.
