Should I switch to toddler bed???

For the last couple days I've been having trouble getting DD to go to sleep for both naptime and bedtime...I put her down in her crib after the normal bedtime routine and she acts fine like she's going to go to sleep but as soon as I leave the room and get downstairs she throws everything out of her crib and then screams and cries for me to come back up and give it all back...I've tried to let her cry for a bit hoping she'll just give up and go to sleep but it just doesn't happen. Today after an hour of fighting with her at naptime I just decided to get her up and she didn't nap at all. She's usually a very good sleeper, goes down right away at night and STTN and usually takes a 2 1/2 hour nap every day. And she's never tried to climb out of the crib... the one thing is she can't fall asleep without her paci (gotta prepare myself to start working on that soon! lol) and that of course is one of the things she throws out so I think that's where the most trouble is. So I've been thinking about maybe converting the crib into the toddler bed so if she continues this she can just get up and get everything herself, KWIM? What would you do? Any advice?

  • In theory, that is a good idea however if she is freaking out lately you might have a good thing with her contained to her crib. If she has the toddler bed "freedom", do you think she will get the stuff herself or find another way to get your attention? It's tricky, I know what you are saying. You may not want to open a can of worms here.

  • I would research how to break her paci habit (or buy something to attach it to her pj's so she can't throw it out).  My opinion is not to move any kid from the crib before you need to!
