Chicco NextFit or Britax Marathon??

We have been really happy with our Chicco Keyfit - and MIL just bought LO the Britax Marathon for Christmas.  But now I'm second-guessing myself and should "have asked" for the Chicco NextFit.

I know there have been a billion threads on convertible carseats, but anyone have anything specific regarding either of these two??  positive or negative?

TIA!

A next fit will last you significantly longer rear facing (and in general). All car seats go through the same testing and are no safer than others. Ratings are based on convienence features and while Britax are regarded as high brow, they are often outgrown quickly, leaving you to forward face early or buy another seat.

  • That's kind of what I was thinking as I was second-guessing myself... I think I'll prob just suck it up an graciously accept the Britax as a gift- and then when we have to buy another one down the road get the Chicco (or maybe just bite the bullet and get the chicco for me and put the Britax in DHs car)

    Thanks for the input OSC

I just now ordered the next fit from target (25% off)! We are going to put it in my husbands truck (ram 1500 crew cab), he will only have the baby once in awhile. I still need to get to buybuybaby and buy the peg perego for my jeep. Julianne is in the 90th %ile for height and weight which is why I didn't want to go with the britax, although they have great reviews. She also gets a little sweaty in her infant seat so I was afraid all that plush fabric on the britax would be too hot for her. The peg perego is jersey so it should breathe a lot better, and the nextfit looks breathable also.
Its helpful to know this, but don't always assume she'll stay at that growth curve her entire life. Charlie was at 5-10% then skyrocketed to 90%. Ginny so far was at 60% and fell to 5-10%. You never know! Getting a high limit seat like the NextFit is a good idea to cover your bases.
