Has anyone ever had 4 c/s? DH and I really want 4 children but I had a c/s with #1. Dr suggested I try for a vbac with #2 but I really would prefer a scheduled c/s. She said there is a lot of scar tissue with 4 csections.
I just had my third and my ob who is also an MFM told me he sees no issues with me having a fourth and possibly more than that. Originally I didn't want a third csection let alone more but he's amazing and my recovery this time was so different than my other two. I'm three weeks out and don't even feel like I had a csection. He had a patient who just had her 7th csection and wants an 8th.
I just had my 3rd and was told it will be my last. My first two went perfect with minimal scaring and I healed well and fast. With this one when they went in there was a window in my uterus and the only thing holding LO in was my bag of waters. I was told it would be too dangerous to have any more. And we had no idea this was happening until I was in surgery.
So it sounds like from other people it's possible but wanted to share my case where I had to stop at 3.
I had my third 11 days ago. I was told it could take up to 90 minutes because it was my third but from getting the spinal to being in recovery was less than 45 minutes. During the surgery my dr said "everything looks great if you want to do this again." I had 3 years between each section, don't know if that makes a difference or not.
We are considering a 4th but taking it one at a time. I have been cleared for a 3rd.

This will be my third and last. Doc told me that I'd probably be ok with a 4th but b/c of scar tissue and other health issues I've had, 3 would be safest. I think it varies from person to person and doc to doc.
If your doctor is recommending a VBAC and you want four kids total, listen to your doctor. A VBAC after one CS is a lot less risky than having four CS. And your risks of unterine rupture go way down after your first VBAC, anyway.
I think doctors like to cover themselves a bit with the 3 c/s max thing. After my 1st my doctor told me the same thing. But in the same breath told me about a mom at their practice that had 8 c/s!!! If you don't heal well you might be suggested to hold at that 3 limit. But more than likely you'll probably be able to push that.

I'll be having my 3rd C/S in 3 weeks, my doctor & I were discussing prevention methods ect and he said he felt comfortable performing 1 or 2 more C/S following this one, if I had wanted to have more children. My hospital doesn't offer VBACS, but if they did and my doctor had offered me this option I'd take. I would listen to your OB's advice and go from there.
I'll be having my 3rd c/s soon. My Dr so far hasn't said no to a 4th but I get the feeling he's not thrilled about the idea. I wish I would've pushed more to avoid a c/s the first time & tried for a vbac with the 2nd. I haven't decided about a 4th yet but the fact that it would require a 4th c/s is a big drawback for me.
My girlfriend just had her 4th. She had a crap ton of scar tissue, but she always does. My OB said she'd be okay with me having another if we decided too after originally suggesting only 3 total.
I'm having my third section next week, and they said they would evaluate me while they were inside to see if I could/should have more. They also said they think, most likely, there will be no problem with another and they know I would like another child. My OB does encourage two years between csections to help ensure full healing. My second csection they were able to make the incision around the first, so I have only the scar from one surgery.
If you can try for a vbac, and they say you're a good candidate, I would go that route. Keep your options open that way.
My old babysitter had 4 or 5 I can't remember. But with her last, they had to take the baby about a month early because her uterus was so thin, and they were afraid for the baby's life. I think it depends on the person. I would talk to your Dr. after every child born.
After my 3rd I was told it would be okay to have another. My OB said my uterine wall was on the thin side, but not thin enough to advise against future pregnancies.
I have 3 kids, 3 and under...so mine have also been close together.
My mother had 4 three bikini cut, last one vertical and bikini because my sister got stuck. Make sure if you do it have pelvic floor pt after and scar mobilization so the scar tissue doesn't adhere to anything.
