Figures --- just my luck!

I am working from home today --- it's snowing, I don't feel good, etc.

Anyway --- I just was told (via email) that they are letting employees go at 1:00.  It figures, the one day I work from home, they let everyone out early and I'll have to continue to work (since I'm already home).  BEAT!

Re: Figures --- just my luck!

  • Why can't you stop working at 1???
  • Why do you have to keep working when no one else does?

  • I agree, why can't you stop at 1 like everyone else?  At least you don't have to drive home in the snow.

  • I don't know.  My gut is telling me the boss would be ticked off if I stopped working.  After all, I'm in the comfort of my home and the whole reason they are letting everyone go is so that they can get safely home.

I'm afraid to ask her!  ;)

  • I know exactly how you feel...
  • That stinks! Hope you feel better soon!

  • I work from home FT and know that feeling, when the office is closed you are expected to work the same. I would just majorly slack off.
  • yeah, I stayed home today for the same reason and everyone is going home early too..... ?but guess what, your boss won't be there after 1pm to check on you :)

She can run reports and see if I was active during the time.  I don't know that she would go that far -- I doubt she would -- but I don't know if I'm willing to take that chance.

  • Hows this for luck...I wasn't supposed to work at all today, but while running between Target, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma trying to get a million things, I got 3 texts and a phone call that I needed to get on line PRONTO because a million dollar client isn't happy and somethng needs changed.

    NOT MY PROBLEM!!!

But here I am....working....on my day off.  I just want a regular job that has regular vacations.  This job blows when it comes to days off.  I honestly can't tell you the list time I had a true day off...except for the day after I delivered MItch...the day I delivered him, I was finishing up work before going to the hospital....and i was back on line as soon as I got home from the hospital keeping up on crap.

    Bummer :(

    Happy New Year!?

  • That sucks, Jodi. I guess the difference between your boss and our department head is that our department head always tells us to leave by 1pm or 2pm because it's the day before a holiday. (and he would totally expect us to either stay home or leave early if the weather makes for bad driving conditions)
