Going back to work tips

Hi guys!  I am going back to work in a week and am anxious about the logistics of it and have some questions.
-How fast did your LO get sick at daycare and what supplies should I go buy to have on hand?
-DH is going to be out of the country for work the second week I go back, any tips on how to not lose my mind juggling it all?

Thanks!!

Re: Going back to work tips

  • My LO got sick the 3rd week of daycare w/ a cold. I'd definitely suggest a humidifier if you don't already have one and a booger sucker, I'm sure you got one of those in the hospital.

My DH went out of town the 2nd week I was back to work too. I continued to follow our normal routines as if he were there, we made it. I had my mom come over one of the nights just to keep me company... maybe if you have a friend or family member that could come over to keep you company too ?

  • So Im a germ freak.. And the bugger sucker thing from the hospital is not good... The reason why I think its not good is b/c you cant clean it properly. I know you can put it in soapy hot water etc but The water needs to dry.. If water remains in a closed surface things can grow!!
So I bought a bugger sucker thing that comes apart and was like $5

    This is just my opinion...
    Thanks
  • Dahlia813 I see your point...

  • Oh and youll be fine!! Dont worry about being alone with baby. We as mothers know what to do when situations arise! If anything happens and you get panicky just tell your self to remain calm and you'll figure it out.. Deep breathes help me!
As far as work is concerned.. I would do a practice run before you start work. So wake up one morning as if you are going to work. Try to leave the house at a particular time and drive to her daycare etc. so You know the timing of everything and add in extra time incase your baby has a poop explosion last minute or throws up all over you or you need gas.. And ofcourse not every morning will be the same but itll give you an idea. Preparing things the night before is what helps me b/c I am not an early riser!!!! And I also dont wake her up if shes sleeping when I wake up I then quickly eat or get ready... But if shes awake then I take care of her first. After some time youll have a routine but just give yourself alot of time in the beggining. I also have a list that I look at to make sure I have everything and/ or turn off the heat etc. I also turn the car on and load everything in the car before I put her in. But if your car is far away like if you live in a big city then maybe this wont be possible.. Im heavier than before so I have to try on outfits at night and not in the morning. I have 2 outfits ready for myself. I wash my hair, make my own lunch etc at night...
