Can't sleep

I get like four broken hours of sleep at night if I'm lucky. LO sleeps just fine. But when I try to sleep when she sleeps, I just can't. I can maybe get fifteen minutes here or there but that's it. I don't know what to do or make it better but I go crazy when I'm awake. I'm bored out of my mind. DH works third shift so it's just me until he wakes up in the afternoon. I don't know what's causing it. I know I'm exhausted. I feel it. My body aches. I get shaky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try some Tylenol PM or an RX for Ambien. I too couldnt sleep when the baby slept. I was too nervous.

Sounds like maybe you've got PP anxiety. I got this after my first. I would call your doctor!

Ditto hot bath/shower. Maybe just lay down when your baby sleeps to try and rest your body somehow. I was the same way, actually I still am. I cannot sleep during the day. Also, I wouldn't take medication that could hinder caring for your child.

Agreed!  I used to force myself to lay down whether I thought I would sleep or not, I typically did but even if I didn't laying down with my eyes closed is far better for your body than running around trying to get stuff done.

I have a hard time following that "sleep when baby sleeps" rule too, since there's things to be done! But I found that sleeping a bit in the late morning helps immensely.  I do a feeding around 6ish, then put him in a swaddle/swing and rest on the couch. I feel like a new woman waking up.  Try that, since it's not technically a "nap", just a continuation of sleep?
