Why do they put belt loops on maternity jeans?

I put a belt through said belt loops this morning (because they are there and that's what they're for) and it was a horrible mistake.  It's great when I'm standing, no saggy bum, but sitting is torture.  I guess they would look dumb without the loops, but seriously, they should come up with something better.

No point.

    I know, some of the maternity clothing is made by men, who were never pregnant!

    The pair of jeans I have on today doesn't have any!  I wouldn't be able to fit into a belt now anyway.

    I had to borrow from DH.  Clearly I was pretty determined to wear a damn belt!  And really, it's not like we're wearing belly tops.  Nobody knows it has a belt or not.

    The salesperson at Thyme tried to sell me on a belt for my jeans. It had some elastic in it. But I'm too cheap ($30) and I figured it would irritate my vastly expanding belly in no time.

    TTC #2 since ~June 2010
    IUI #1 & 2 - Clomid/IUI - BFN
    IUI #3 &4 - Gonal-F/Ovidrel and IUI -- BFN
    IUI #5 - Gonal-F/Ovidrel and IUI -- BFP!!
    EDD: March 22, 2013
    It's triplets!!

    Feb'12- July'12-testing(all clear minus slight arcuate ute), 3 IUI with clomid all BFN
    8/30IVF#1 Antagonist protocol- ER 9/11-8R, 7M, 5F. 
    ET 9/14 2 embies transferred. 1 10cell Grade 4, 1 8cell Grade 4. No frosties. BFN
    IVF#2 Antagonist protocol plus baby aspirin- ER 12/5-16R, 12M, 8F!
    ET 12/10 5dt! 1 fully expanded blast & 1 early blast. No frosties. BFN
    3/13 hysteroscopy & polypectomy, Consulted w Dr. Kwak-Kim.

    ER 7/19 14R, 11M, 9F(4 natural fert, 5 with ICSI)

    Hahaha I was thinking the same thing! My student's mom gifted me a pair of J Brand maternity jeans and I was amazed that it had a button, working zipper, and belt loops! I guess if the jeans have the elastic side panel (where the pockets would be) or elastic waist band, then the maternity jeans look normal, but if they have the panel for the belly, they don't have the loops. Just wish I could find a functional belt I don't have to put OVER my belly.

    I think all my clothes have a belt loop apparently mat shirts have to have a sash too.... I wear no belts on anything!!

    Ha! I was super bummed that my first pair do NOT have belt loops! Not that I want a belt, but I'm a dog trainer and connect by bait bag to my belt loops to keep them secure in case the clip slips off my pocket. Hopefully I can find some with belt loops so I don't have to go with a fanny pack-type bait bag!
