Sleep positions & movements

My lo seems happiest sleeping on on his side with his arms and legs through the crib slots. I'm so scared he's going to hurt himself. I've been moving him when he's like this but he always wakes. Tonight he's just close to the bars but on his side.
How are you all dealing with this?

He also is doing 180 and 360 in the crib. He doesn't do this yet on his Play mat.

Re: Sleep positions & movements

  • My LO sleeps on his side and does 360s like yours. He used to get his arms and legs stuck in the crib slats and scream when he got stuck. I bought the breathable mesh bumpers and they have been great. He can turn as much as he want but no more getting stuck! But you'll have ppl on here who love them and ppl who think they are terrible.

  • Get a bumper...a breathable one if you are worried. That's what bumpers are for. :)

  • N is constantly getting her legs and arms through the slats.  It doesn't seem to bother her too much right now so I'm going to wait on the breathable bumper.  She likes to use the crib as leverage to help her roll over, so she'll push hard with her legs on the crib and then they'll slip through the slats.

  • Am I the only one whose child does not move in her sleep? She goes to sleep on her side and might wake up on her back but she is always right where I left her....

OP, I agree with everyone else- mesh bumpers!

  • I was holding off on the mesh bumpers until he can flip completely. Right now he turns himself over but can't always turn himself back!
  • LO is still in a pack'n'play in our room (until she wakes up and finishes the night cosleeping) and rolls onto her stomach. I've given up trying to get her to sleep on her back because she wakes up. It is stressful and when we move her to her crib we will probably get a mesh bumper because she moves all over the place.

@stephmill26 She may move- one night we laid M down one way. A few hrs later she fussed and I went to put her paci back in and she had turned 90 degrees. Couple hrs later she fussed again, went to check on her and pop the paci back in, and she had turned another 90 degrees. Now she was opposite how we put her down. Couple hrs later, same thing. She had rotated 90 degrees. Then in the AM when she woke up for good, she had done another 90 degrees and was back how we put her down! If she hadn't fussed thru out the night, we would have never known that she moved all night!

LOL that's really funny. But I have a firm tube pillow behind her back because she falls asleep on her side (I think it helps her sleep because it catches her if she rolls back) so if she moved, I would know because the pillow would also be moved, and the most it ever is moved is from behind her back to this:image
