Progesterone Suppositories?

Hi All -
My OB called today to tell me that my progesterone came back a little low from Monday's blood test.  It's in the normal range - but on the low end.  They want it over 4.73 mine is around 7.53.  The OB called my RE and they decided to put me on progesterone suppositories.  I was on injections for about 7 weeks post-retrieval.  I haven't used the suppositories before - have any of you? Any tips or anything I should expect?  I'd almost rather the injections ... I'm used to them already and at least it's quick and over with.  Should I be worried - or is having a progesterone level in this range ok for sustaining a pregnancy?

I've been on Endometrin, Prometeium, and Crinone during various cycles, they weren't bad just gross and messy blech!!! Pads or panty liners are your new best friend , lol

kflynn81 - that's exactly what I'm worried about and why I think I'd prefer the shots! I've heard it's like you're a smurf having discharge!!!

Haha I didn't have any smurf issues I think that's when you use estrace as a suppository or Viagra. The other ones shouldn't be blue LOL

Pads with wings! I swear without wings it just goes on the side and around the panty linear.

Liners definitely! It is gross at first but so much faster and totally painless. Plus I haven't had any bad reactions like I did with PIO. I don't know what a normal progesterone level is at this stage but the fact that you are a few points over the doctors cutoff sounds good to me!

Use your oldest underwear and change panty liners frequently. I cheered with my RE when she told me I could stop endometrin. The first thing I said was, "Yay! I get to wear my good underwear again!" The leakage is worth the reassurance of sustaining pregnancy, though.

I use this website for lab values. I've done crinone, endometrin, pio, and oral prometrium for various cycles. The discharge was annoying but not unbearable. I second the pads w wings!

Pretty common. They are overly cautious with progesterone. It is messy and gross and yield to these wonderful women's advice and protect your drawers! Also be ready to feel like you have peed your pants at random times of the day. First time it happened to me I swear I thought I was bleeding and it scared me to death!!

I didn't do well on suppositories, I switched to PIO, less mess and can be measured easily and doesn't irritate the cervix like suppositories. Just a thought. Some of these suppositories are known for irritation bleeding, no one warned me until I saw it for myself and panicked.

Thanks everyone for the advice - I started them last night --- and stocked up on panty liners ---we'll see how it goes....!!! Anything to keep this pregnancy going!
