How the hell do you do it? As my ds gets older its getting more and more difficult. I used to do it while he sleeps, but now he wakes up and takes his hand away. I've tried biting his nails but, but any fussing with his hands pisses him off.
Omg I have such an easy way to do it but its so hard to explain. Bare with me!!
Put his nails up/towards him and his palm down/ towards you, then hold the clippers as if you're stapling paper - the idea is to watch the blade at the back so you don't nip the skin.

My lo us the same way!!! And don't get me started on his little toes!! I've tried to do it while he's napping and that's NEVER worked!! Nothing distracts him and ur doesn't matter where or when I do it. I try to make it a game (if that's even possible) I try singing or counting.... nothing! Good luck though! If yours is anything like mine, I know you'll need it! Lol!!
I can still get away with doing it while DD is asleep - but only when she's out for the night, doesn't seem to work with naps. And I am really bad about getting her toes becasue she is almost always in footed jammies when I'm trimming her nails so can't get to her toes. If/when the day comes that I can't do it while she sleeps I have no idea what I'll do, her hands are never still!!
I use clippers. I sit DD on my lap facing away from me and wrap one arm around her to hold the hand/fingers straight while I clip. I make sure to clip every few days or once a week and I think since I've been doing that for months now DD is sort of used to it. I used the safety scissors for the first 3 months but have been using baby clippers since then. I'll sing or count too just to keep DD occupied and I have to say, I'm pretty quick after so much practice so she doesn't really have a chance to get fussy, though every once in a while she'll fight.
