triple screen test

Hi there,

I had my OB check up this am, I'm 15 wks. I won't be going back until new years eve because of scheduling conflicts so they mentioned the triple screen test. They mentioned that it was optional. I think I'm gonna pass on this one. I had the NT screen and the blood work that goes with it - everything was normal.

STM's - can you please share your thoughts on the triple screen? I'd love to hear what you have to say.

I'll have it this time, only because I was not given the option for the NT scan or other testing.

If I had the NT scan, I personally would not have the triple screen.

I didn't have it last time... they saw about a million markers for Down syndrome at the appointment where I could have had it, so I just had an amnio.  I probably wouldn't have had it anyway though.  I'm on the fence this time, but will probably skip it.  I had the Har.mony test instead of NT/1st tri bloodwork since this pregnancy was higher risk for Ds again.

Random question: why do you put a period in the name of the test? I saw someone else do this also (it could've even been you), I'm just curious. TIA!

@CamrynnsMommy because I'd like to reduce the likelihood that posts about it would be googlable by random people or by the manufacturers.  I'm sure the manufacturers are keeping tabs on how people are talking about these tests and I'd rather not have them "listening in" more easily.  I am more vigilant when I'm mentioning all four of the manufacturer names together, but now it's just habit.

I am having it (actually, I believe mine will be a quad screen). Like @CamrynnsMommy, I wasn't offered an NT scan, so this is the best I'll get.

Thanks, ladies. I feel better about opting out now. Had there been issues with my NT scan or none at all I would be getting this test done. I just feel that I'm low risk... no need to spend all the money if insurance doesn't pick it all up. We have a high deductable ins plan. Boooo!

I had been wondering that too. Fascinating. Good call. I love the way you think.
